Making friends in a new town?

I left Wilmington for college in '93 and have since lived in Murrells Inlet, SC, Jacksonville, FL, Miami, FL, and now Charlotte. Each time moving to a place where I knew nobody. I perfected going to sporting events and bars by myself. You eventually meet people. Meeting girls is the best way to get into a circle IMO. That was always the route I took. The only danger in hitting the bar scene on your own is nobody has your back if poo hits the fan. You're like Bear Grylls. My job has always kept me on the road so I am seasoned when it comes to dining alone or sitting at a bar alone. Don't undervalue some quality alone time.
