Making friends in a new town?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I lived in Charlotte most of my life and all of my friends were people I met by circumstance, either by doing the same activity or through work and school, but again lived in Charlotte practically my whole life.

Now I'm in Greenville nc and been here about 8 months and while I've made a few friend by in large I still hardly know anyone in town, this is because of my work and class schedule, so anyone have any good suggestions on how to meet new people in a new town? Or more directly Greenville? It's just not something I'm used to as far as not knowing anyone in town.

Do they have local sports clubs you can join?

not that I know of, I know ECU has plenty but you have to be a student to be a member and I'm not starting there till the spring.

I'm a member of a local chapter of the NC kayak fishing association but I've been having a hard time making their monthly meetings because of school.

I've been in Shallotte for almost 4 years and I don't have any real friends here. Mostly because almost everyone I meet here is either a drug addict or fuging stupid.

well what do you like doing? If you are into outdoorsy stuff go to the whitewater center, that place is like an adults playground if you don't make friends there I don't know what to say.

    • They reached for Pickett, so they are not immune to it.  I could see that as well.  I just think the Colts are flying under the radar and they have been too quiet concerning their QB situation--of course, they could think Jones is their guy (they had a good one named Jones a long time ago) but I think they are done with the Richardson experiment.   Even if I believed in Jones, I would still draft a QB--I also read one mock that said the Jets would take Sanders if he falls to 7---I disagree, but I was once wrong and it still bothers me.
    • I just switched to prime video with fanduel south. Will I be able to watch the Canes playoff games still?
    • I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.  Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.
