On offense? I kno he was getting looks at returner and doing great. I WANT to keep him anyway, I hav been a fan of him since he came in. And like mentioned earlier he is really diverse. Its not just Pilares I'm talking about. If we are not gonna work them in our game plans and get them on the field, why keep them? Bring in someone you will put on field. Get all you can out of each roster spot.

Yes, on offense. He was starting to get on the field much more and that may have increased if he hadn't been IR'd. The only reason Gettis was taken off the PUP list was because Pilares was done for the season. Gettis would've been placed on IR if not for this. Its also the reason AE started getting looks.

I agree with you on Pilares, but as versatile as he is, when hav we actually used him? If we are not gonna put him on the field, then why not keep someone we will use? We should try to get the most out of our personnel. But I totally agree, Pilares can be an asset.......if we USE him.

In fairness, we struggled blocking and setting up basic stuff last year. Pilares seems to be a guy you insert into the more complex stuff/looks. I hate to use the world gadget plays but he seems more of a wrinkle player on offense.

Completely agree, I want to guy to break out as much as the next but he has not done anything in two years.  Whatever anyone says about him being in the doghouse or this or that I believe if he was the anwser he would have been on the field.

I think Clausen and AE will finish out their contracts and leave retired. The rest may Possibly be cut at the conclusion of training camp.

Not saying i agree or disagree...but if you put Pilares on a list why keep Gettis off it?

In realize Gettis has the super fan club....but while he has speed I would argue Pilares is more diverse of a player

I think Barner takes over for Pilares in whatever gadget plays we may use. He's a true scatback.

Pilares is just a tweener WR/returner to me. Hard to plug him in. And he also tries to start fights at Montford with skinny frat kids.

Pilares has actually scored a receiving TD in the last 2 years, so...

Gettis was also active the last few games of the season, but only got on the field a handfull of times. I'd bet my left nut if Pilares wasn't hurt, they would've placed Gettis on IR.

Pilares will stay on the team.  Training camp hero AE will probably be given another shot, but this will be his last.  Fua might get to stay as our last DT on the depth chart, but I wouldn't put my money on it.  Dude is going to have to actually beat someone out for a spot.

 

Clausen will stay simply because he's cheap and probably costs less than anyone else we can get for a 3rd string qb.  Adams I can almost guarantee will be cut.  Ginn is definitely a better return man, even hixon and barner will probably impress more than Adams.

Exaggerating again? They couldn't have been that bad since they still managed to beat us.

Last I checked our special teams still continued to suck even after Crossman left.

Caz with Hurney we were always a "good on paper/madden" team.  We had quality starters but the bottom of our roster has just been full of projects and liabilities.  You look at the 49ers and they aim to have 35 guys they are comfortable with being on the field.  As much as the media loves to put everything on the quarterback's shoulders, football is the ultimate team game and with the amount of injuries involved in it, depth is a necessity to compete with the best on a regular basis.
