you are debating semantics here, when your m.o. has been that this is the worst secondary in the league and doesn't have talent. you neatly pick out that stat, but then other times when you debate you use the "old eye test" or however you refer to it.

when i say talent, i mean norman has the talent to be a #1. He made those kinds of plays last year. Did he get abused? of course he did. should we continue drafting and adding talent in FA? of course. But this secondary isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It has the talent right now to produce on the field.

Can you give some examples?

Too bad you aren't allowed to play the game like the 03 team did anymore....

They hit QBs and mauled WRs. Need talent in today's game.

You can't maul people mid-route like Ricky Manning anymore, but you can still be very physical at the line. And you can still disrupt the QB with your dline.

Maybe we don't have guys that can blanket a receiver for 6 seconds. But we have guys that I believe can disrupt them for 3 or 4 seconds while our dline gets in there after the QB. If our safeties can avoid giving up the "oh crap I'm about to get sacked" heave down the field, I think we'll be fine. I know being negative is kind of your shtick and that's fine, but I choose to be positive about the product the team will be putting out their on defense. We can agree to disagree on this one.

White is probably going to sit on the PS tbh. JT, D. Florence, Josh Norman, DJ Moore and Cap will + 4 safeties are probably all we're carrying. Moore = Cap, but Moore seems to be quite talented and Cap is likely staying too. But who knows. No elite DB's in this group, just a wealth of solid players to choose from

If White plays well in the preseason and we try to stash him on the PS be prepared for someone to scoop him up.

These are going to be some of the decisions that Gettleman is going to have to make.

With Ginn and Barner do we really need to keep Adams and Edwards?

Linden Gaydosh going to push Fua off the squad?

Are White and Lester solid enough to push Senn or someone off special teams so we keep them.

Just remember you have to waive these guys first before you can add them to the P.S.  But I believe there is a rule that you can take someone from another teams PS as long as that individual stays on the roster for the whole season.

Say what you want about armanti, year after year he put all that droping punts crap behind him. Every single year he's shown improvement. I'd be upset to joe adams on the roster over armanti "at this point". Better return man(he catches it) and a better wr period.

sure....two off the top of my head

the ny giants game

the pass defended in the left side of the end zone on a fade to one of their recievers

the bears game when he went up and snagged the int against B. Marshall

Those were Very athletic plays. Plays that a #1 corner makes. He's big and he's strong. and he has incredible leaping ability. He can jam the reciever at the line because of his size and strength and needs to continue to work on that.

I think that is why people were so excited about Norman in the beginning. The game just caught up to him, being a 5th round rookie from Coastal Carolina going up against opponents #1s on a regular basis. He obviously looked awful in some situations. But he has the talent to be a shutdown corner imo. A lot of what i saw he was lacking can be coached.

White was an UDFA for a reason dude, i'd take JT, JN, Cap, Moore, and Florence as our 5 before i'd carry a udfa as our 6th. He's a project that they can stash on the PS (not a must retain).

ginn & barner make edwards, pilares and adams expendable. Fua is a joke, I won't be shocked if Gaydosh wins that spot (smitty spoke well about him)

Our special teams captain Senn... being pushed off... by 2 udfa's? There's really nothing to say to you if you consider this realistic.

Dumb statement.

There are UDFA's that come in and earn spots on teams all the time.  There are a list of stars in this league that were UDFA.

You can make the arguement (AFTER training camp) that hw was not one of the 5 best.  But to make that statement......after a few OTA's and based solely on his draft position is MORONIC.

    • Getting any level of competition and cohesion out of this roster is a job well done.
    • Not sure if anyone else is watching this D1-AA championship game but I don't know if these receivers have NFL athleticism but they got HANDS. These boys can flat out CATCH. This is a good football game.
    • People on here are wrong all the time. I mean some of our best draft picks people didn't like initially due to various reasons. On the other hand there have been a multitude of decisions made by people who are paid very well to know what they're doing that some Panthers fans here saw as a mistake a mile away. Well look man let's put all the chips on the table. Because your grievance is particularly about the QB position. The Panthers have had only two long term starting franchise QB's in 30 years. Thirty years. Two. This fanbase has seen a hell of a lot of poor to mediocre QB play and even short lived fairy tales like the Kyle Allen win streak or going back even further Matt Moore. As far as Darnold and Mayfield goes I think they are certainly overachieving but I don't think anyone here that was critical of either of them were wrong. They both had a heaping portion of humble pie here that has served them greatly now. Mayfield in particular because when he first got here he was still a cocky idiot. Darnold at least kept his head down and did his job for the most part. But I have a hard time seeing either of them going far in the playoffs because in the midst of some of their best games I've seen the same flawed QB's. Darnold is no Nick Foles let's be real with one another here. Baker specifically looked like hot garbage against our defense in Charlotte recently. And those best teams in the playoffs have all that on film and damn well know about it too if average fans like us can see it.
