Too bad you aren't allowed to play the game like the 03 team did anymore....

They hit QBs and mauled WRs. Need talent in today's game.

 

I think it's still talent. Would Deacon Jone's have had his sacks without the head slap? It's illegal now but you play within the rules.

Exactly....and the rules now mean you need real players in the secondary. Can't mask it the same way you could years ago.

Look at last year....Carolina gererated the most pressure per snap. Secondary allowed the best completion percentage to opposing QBs. Need talent

Not really the way I was looking at it. You said we don't have talent, which isn't true.

 

Thomas and Norman have made plays and have shown they belong and can play at a high level in the league. They are just inexperienced, were poorly coached or played poorly in certain situations. They are young.

 

If you had said we are inexperienced then obviously i would agree. But you make it sound like we are complete poo in the secondary. Stat wise for you maybe we were last year, but we have talent in this secondary that needs to be coached up.

But again, you can claim every team has talent....

Josh Norman has never played at a high level in the NFL. He was abused last year and benched....that is his resume.

"Physical talent" doesn't equal legit positional talent in the NFL. I have always said for example Godfrey has physical talent oozing out his ears....just a shame he isn't very good at playing S in the NFL. He is our second best player outside of when Captain is in the nickel

 you are debating semantics here, when your m.o. has been that this is the worst secondary in the league and doesn't have talent. you neatly pick out that stat, but then other times when you debate you use the "old eye test" or however you refer to it.

 

when i say talent, i mean norman has the talent to be a #1. He made those kinds of plays last year. Did he get abused? of course he did. should we continue drafting and adding talent in FA? of course. But this secondary isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It has the talent right now to produce on the field.

On paper, it is very weak secondary. One of the worst in the NFL.
