NBA Finals Thread - (2) San Antonio Spurs vs. (1) Miami Heat

And as an aside, I still just don't understand how The Heat keep giving Green these shots. You know he's killing you, play man and don't leave him, EVER. At this point I don't ever leave him to help on Parker or Duncan. You'd think they would've already made that adjustment though.

Just to put into perspective how well Green is playing...

He is averaging

18 points per game

4 rebounds per game

1.6 blocks per game

1 assist per game

0.8 steals per game

Give this man the Finals MVP trophy

If the Spurs win the title Green MUST be given the MVP.

Guy has put on a shooting performance that has not been rivaled in an NBA Finals.

I am not sure it is so much that the Heat are leaviang him.  Watch him during the game....they guy is constant motion and is doing a fantastic job at moving without the ball.

Gotta love it when an underdog role player steps up and has a series like this....especially in the Finals.

Guy is living a dream that he could have never imagined.

This X500, you rarely see Green stand in one spot for a full possession. I've never seen a guy run the baseline as much as he does.

I only got to watch the second half, but from what I seen there:

1) Where was Lebron or Wade?  They made some shots but were pretty much just out there doing the motions.  They can definitely turn it on when they want, but shouldn't that be 100% of the time in the finals?  This is why the MJ comparisons aren't even close, or even Kobe.  I'm sorry, Lebron may be the best athlete ever, but his drive to win/competitiveness is what will always keep him from reaching the highest tier.  He took over a couple games ago, he needs to do this every finals game.  Wade is just losing a step but still, he showed he can also do it when he wants to.... however this goes to the next point....

2) This series seems rigged.  I'm sorry, but these are good teams, and they keep taking turns on getting crushed?  I expected more close games.   It wouldn't surprise me if the NBA wants this to go to 7.   I just have a odd feeling and others on the net seem to have it also.

3) It's obvious Spoelstra isn't a great coach, and the Spurs seem to have an advantage here.  Heat win when the big 3 are all on, the Spurs win because of adjustments (usually, unless it's time for the Heat to tie it up so they can get to 7 lol) and rotations.    You HAVE to put someone on Green.  Put Lebron on him if you have to.  Every time they tried to make a comeback a Green 3pointer would kill momentum.  The Heat just give up and hope to win the next one I guess.

4) Spurs have a great team.  If their big 3 is equaling Miami's big 3 in scoring, they'll win every time, because their role players are just better.  One of them could win finals MVP (and maybe not be a role player for much longer).

I expect the Heat to win the next, I don't see them losing two in a row.  It'll set us up for a showdown in game 7, and I'm not sure if the NBA wants to build up Lebron's dynasty or hype up Duncan's possible swan song.  Maybe the later.

The Heat seem to have the attitude that they can just flip their on/off switch whenever their backs are against the wall and win. They just don't play with any sense of urgency before it gets to that point, and it may well cost them the championship. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they came out and won the next 2 games handily, neither would I be if they lost Game 6.

Lebron just doesnthave that killer instinct that jordan and kobe have. Call it selfishness, but when they smell blood they want the ball every play. Lebron does it in spurts but as soon as they get going hes looking to pass again. He just needs to be like "this is my court, give me the fuging rock"

Oh, I agree. Don't get me wrong, he is doing his part and doing a great job of moving without the ball. But, when he's playing like that and has now repeatedly shown it isn't an aberration but the expected, you canNOT leave him to help. The problem is they keep trying to help or trap on Parker and Duncan and that gives him the time and space to get open, and he's killing them.

Understand your point.

The Heat have bet that Green would cool off....and that Parker/Duncan/Ginobilli can hurt them more.  Problem is that he has not cooled off.

If they did not help off of Green, then Parker and Duncan would kill them.  When the big 3 are playing well.....AND you have a role player or two playing great....there is not a lot the Heat can do to stop them.

The Spurs are playing great right now.  They are the better "team".
