NBA Finals Thread - (2) San Antonio Spurs vs. (1) Miami Heat

I didn't even think Manu got fouled until I saw the replay.

Point being, I can see how that wasn't called and didn't really think it was that bad a no call.

The Green shot also could have been called a foul. But when I played ball we were taught at a young age to not rely on the refs bailing you out at the end of the game.

People have a massive confirmation bias when it comes to the NBA and conspiracies, though I guess it comes with the territory since refs can have such a huge influence on the game.  I've seen plenty of games where I thought the refs influenced the outcome, this was not one of them.  If the refs were determined to force a game 7, there were plenty of chances to give lebron and wade bailout calls on drives to the rim (they were crying all night lol), but they didnt call them.  Hell, I think the spurs took more free throws last night

The only game I ever thought was totally fixed was a game a while ago. I'm not even sure what year it was but it was Sacramento and the Lakers in a game 6 and Sac I think was up 3-2 and it was the worst officiating job I have ever seen. The Lakers wound up winning in 7.

I don't really believe there is a mandate from the NBA to push for game 7s or to support certain teams. But I do think at times there is human biases for certain teams and players by the refs. I also think NBA refs have bloated egos and get too cute with make up calls and stuff of that sort rather than just reffing the game.

You hate the Heat because Wade, Bosh, James got together or basically you just hate LeBron James? I don't mind criticizing the the players or the Heat but just to hate on them just to hate is just childish. That's why I pull for the Heat to shut people like you and others up. Somehow if the Heat would have lost this game tonight, it wouldn't have been 19344394% James' fault.

Wut? I bet that's how you justify your bandwagon hopping to yourself.  That's the dumbest thing I've heard about being a fan.

Second thing, I also stated that I didn't have a problem with people criticizing Lebron or the the Heat but if your foundation for criticism is because you hate the Heat because Wade, Bosh, and James got together or you just hate Lebron James just because he left Cleveland or you are just hating on him just to be hating holds no merit. I didn't state that quite as well in my previous post so I hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

I hate the Heat because they have all the talent they need and get 75% of the calls throughout the season yet they still fuging whine constantly.  As talented as they are they still feel the need to flop all the time with no regret at how its destroying the credibility of the game.  Lebron is the best player in the league and probably can score whenever he wants, yet he would rather flop around. I hate the heat because the bandwagon fans who don't even fuging know who Dan Majerle or Tim Hardaway is. The perfect front man for the Heat fans is Justin Bieber.  I hate the heat because people like you who cheer for them to shut other people up like you have some kind of influence on the team or another person's opinions just because you cheer for the best team at the moment.

Yeah, I guess I hate the Heat because of Wade, Bosh, and James getting together.  If it weren't for that then none of the above would have been possible.

I thought the Ginobili foul was much more egregious than the one on Green at the end of the game but in fairness Ginobili took about 14 steps on the way to that foul.

The refs let the guys play as they should have in that point of the game. In my opinion I would rather see the refs not take the game into their hands and let them play with a bit more contact in that situation. Call conspiracy for a game 7 all you want but many of the calls went in the Spurs favor.

If Parker had hit the 3 that Allen did and the refs called a timeout to review the play like they did on Allen's everyone would be sh*tting thier pants how the refs were giving the Heat time to set up and discuss a play with no time left. CONSPIRACY!!!!

It went both ways and all in all it was a well called game, and a great fuggin game. The ball just bounced the Heat's way down the stretch and the Heat stepped up with huge plays when they had to.

I agree with you that plays like the two in question are rarely called at the end of the game....even though they would during the game.

I don't buy the arguement that they don't want the refs deciding the game.  Because by not making the call, they are affecting the game.

I am a purest....a foul is a foul (no matter when it is committed).  The rules of the game are not changed for specific times during the game.

Ray Allen got two 4 point plays in Game 5 for less contact than happened against Green.  It is not a conspiracy for this game.....I just don't like inconsistency.

You can watch ANY NBA game during the season and realize the refs are terrible.  If an all-star drives they'll get a foul against a team like, let's say the Bobcats, even if no one is around them.  It's the WORST officiating in the big pro sports IMO.  I think the NBA totally wants game sevens.  It's suspicious how Lebron sits around and bricks shots and does nothing 3/4 quarters each game, but then comes out and dominates, when you know he could do that all game.   There's always something going on that makes you question.  Don't even get me started about the lottery nonsense.

And Manu was fouled BEFORE he walked on that play, about 3 people got in on the action and I "believe" Allen fouled early before the walk.  Refs dictate outcomes and pacing WAY too much in the NBA.

2002. It was the one that Tim Donaghey was referencing that two NBA refs heavily influenced the outcome of the game so that it could get to 7 games. Which is why it is hilarious to hear Laker fans complain about Kobe and co. never getting calls.

Well there's that, and there's the whole Tim Donaghey admitting to fixing games. People did think that way though long before his scandal was brought to light.

Still perfecting it.

Apparently so.  If Manu or Kawhi makes 1 more free throw at the end, we dont have one this year either

Which had nothing to do with the NBA influencing outcomes though.  He admitted to influencing games to pay his gambling debts or whatever, which proves that NBA refs can have a big influence on games.  Well no poo
