NBA Finals Thread - (2) San Antonio Spurs vs. (1) Miami Heat

Yeah, MJ had one. Lebron has two, and also some guys on the bench that were all-stars too. Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis (but hardly plays I know), etc.

Horace Grant, Dennis rodman and BJ Armstrong were all-stars. Toni kukoc was also 6th man of the year.

Fun fact: TheRed was the first person in the thread to directly mention Jordan and LeBron comparisons and now is whining that people are having a discussion about it.

I never compared them genius. I mentioned the absurdity of it occurring at all. Sure didn't take long.

Sorry you can't stop slurping long enough to be impartial for five minutes. Carry on..

Ok, let's say the Spurs end the series tonight (I don't think they will but for the purpose of this post go with it).

How many points does Danny Green need to put up in order to get the finals MVP trophy.

He currently is averaging 18 points per game and with a 30 point game tonight, he can bump it up to 20 points per game. Or with two 25 point games, he can bump his average up to 20 points per game.

So with that said, what does Danny Green need to do to win the NBA Finals MVP trophy?

Yeah, a guy who has shown up in the basketball forum only in the last two weeks to trash LeBron in every single post is really someone who we should take seriously as impartial. gtfo

Before TheRed gets his panties in a bunch and starts his strawman poo again, my official stance is that Jordan is the greatest player of all time. He did carry the Bulls to titles, but not without some help. He made guys better, sure, but I would never say that he had as a shitty a supporting cast in his title runs as LeBron did in Cleveland. However, it is fair to say that he is the only player in recent memory to win a title without a skilled 4 or 5 to take pressure off of him offensively.

IMO, Kobe and LeBron both aren't in the conversation to being better (or on the level of) Jordan because they didn't have to play in the hand checking era.

False. What is your definition of trashing? Anything other than praise? Don't be ridiculous.

I've seen other players get far worse in the NBA section.

Anyway, hey it's Tuesday.

I'm not sure about that, kind of depends on what kind of game Tony Parker has. If Parker is the one drawing the defense away and getting Green open looks, then I think it's Parker. If Parker's hamstring were to act up and Green did more of it on his own, then I think Green wins. That's the thing about the Spurs though there are so many guys who deserve accolades for how they've played thus far that it's tough to pick an alpha dog style MVP. Parker and Green have been great, but Duncan and Leonard are both averaging double-doubles, Ginobili had a monster game 5, Neal was ridiculous in game 3, etc.

Yeah, statistic wise it seems like it's down to Parker and Green.

I would like to see Green attack to the rim a little more to prove that he's not just a one trick pony.

At UNC he was one of the most athletic guys on the team. There are only a hand full of people that could have pulled off the dunk he had on Greg Paulus.

I think just around his average... If he puts up anywhere around 18, I think it's his walking away. Parker hasn't had a big enough series statistics-wise and the media is in love with Green's story right now.
