Unheralded rookies poised to make noise

Recommended Posts

Pretty sure the article suggests he had low sack numbers because he played in several positions outside of DE. Its harder to get sacks from OLB and DT...

Exactly....Beason and Luke played OLB in college. They never got to the QB for sacks.

The kid is diverse with a motor...I'm sure if he played DE all 4 years he would have many more sacks

Roh fuging sucks and probably won't even get playing time in preseason. Will not be on the team

CJ and Hardy don't need lots of reps. Alexander and Addison won't play 3 quarters every week

The hate for UofM is total and real. F em'. This kid will not add anything to the team. And will probably get someone hurt while he flails around like a beached manatee with brain damage. I feel bad for his dog, poor thing didn't get to choose.

Actually, I don't know if he really has a dog. But if he does, I feel bad for the poor thing. If for some Zod forsaken reason he sticks around. I will temper my hatred towards him. However, the first time he trips over a blade of grass like some drunken Huddler, I will rail against him with all my might.

Ummm... I'm an Auburn fan.

But if we can get a top-notch Bama player on the Panthers team to fill a starting position (or even a back-up position) and play well, I'm all for it.

For example, if Robert Lester somehow turns into the next great NFL strong safety for the Panthers?  I'll be happy as fug.  For him, his dog, and the Panthers.

(P.S. My hate for any and all things Bama is as real as it gets.  I hope those fugers lose every game they play every year.  But I would never wish any of them ill health or a horrible life.)

I hate all Gamecocks....

Yet if we can draft a Gamecock and get the value of someone like Captain? I am all for it. People give Captain a hard time....but for a 7th round pick? He is an awesome nickel CB. That is called nailing a draft pick. He is a starting caliber nickel and to land that in the 7th is great

I did say if he helps us I will tone it down. Isn't that enough?

I was exaggerating for effect. Well....mostly. All fans hate their rivals.

Gettlemen said he was going to build depth from the bottom up.  He cut Keiser because, we can assume, he liked Addison better. Now he is lining up some players to challenge Addision for the 4th DE spot.

Nzegwu from Wisconsin

Wes Horton from USC

Addison

Roh

One will make the roster, one of the 3 Undrafted free agents will probably make the PS.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
