You got to be kidding me

Nope. Two WELL deserved Oscar noms under his belt, along his first serious role in Six Degrees of Separation.

And believe it or not, he had some great serious moments on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. (mainly after being abandoned by his father)

Without a doubt the man can act. However I think he has kinda become his own worst enemy ego wise.

The Django thing when I heard about it was pretty disappointing.

after earth was outstanding.

it had its clear shamlamadingdong fingerprints in some places, but it's certainly top three of his best movies (not a difficult list to make, of course.) the visuals alone are worth seeing - absolutely spectacular. dialogue is decent, nothing oscar-worthy but good enough to not distract. good acting (accusations of sucking the life out of will smith are bullshit.) their accents are slightly annoying but it's easy enough to get over.

go see it.

I like unbreakable and sixth sense. That's about it for M Night though.

As for this movie with how much control Will Smith had on the project I figured that it was just a vehicle to launch his son's acting career for roles that don't have daddy calling the shots.

Sixth Sense was possibly the most predictable movie I've ever seen. The acting carried it, Haley Joel Osment was a gem when he was a kid.

He's making a comeback now, he's got a ton of roles in place over the next couple of years. Also Osment carried the sixth sense, he was outstanding. It's a great movie though.

And just like that, the biggest bust ever for Will Smith.

But most of the blame belongs to Mr. Smith: “After Earth,” which also starred his teenage son, Jaden, was a vanity project conceived by Mr. Smith and produced by him, his wife and his brother-in-law. In a statement Sony said, “While we were expecting more domestically, we believe the film will perform strongly when we open overseas over the next few weeks.”
