After Earth- starring Will Smith, directed by M. Night Shamalamadingdong

I think he just lost the hunger or drive to put in the work.  He made a poo ton of money from his previous films, and I think the past 5 years or so he's devoted his time to raising his family and just enjoying it.

I guess that's just where his priorities were.

He even turned down the role of Django, which worked out great for the rest of us.

Well the reason he turned down Django wasn't to spend time with his family, he just didn't want to play the part of a supporting character (Django). He really wanted to do the film but couldn't convince Taratino to make Django the lead and Will wasn't having that. Ultimately that is kind of the way it turned out but in the script Waltz was the main guy.

"The Sixth Sense" was decent, but I though "Unbreakable" and "Signs" were both epic crap. M. Night has always been a ***** hair above awful, imo.

I agree with you on Signs, but not Unbreakable.  Unbreakable is an amazing movie.  It's a really cool take on superheroes and really deserves a sequel to anwser some more questions, etc.  I know Sam Jackson wants to do a sequel to it, he said something along the lines of "M. Night needs to stop making movies that suck and make this sequel" some time ago.

Yea I read that too.  Pretty dumb move by Smith IMO.  Also read that Smith didn't like a lot of the racial aspects of the film.  But Foxx killed it so I'm not mad at him.

It seems like he got burned out on making movies...  shame.

He should have been the next great action star.

Seriously.  I mean its mostly sequels with him now.  Like someone previously mentioned I think he should have done Django. Could have given him the drive to mix it up more.  Really a waste of good talent.

Great thread title.

Didn't know he was directing this, I didn't think it was possible for me to be any less interested in this film.

I liked unbreakable and sixth sense. I actually thought that one that looked like it was set in old days but really was today had some good things going.

The Village? What a troll job that movie was.
