Smitty wants to be around a few more years

Per the AP via Chris Wesseling of nfl.com, Smitty wants to be around awhile. All Panthers fans rejoice and hope that he is healthy, first and foremost, and playing at a high level. The HOF is a near lock if he keeps doing what he's doing.

 

 

Entering his 13th season, Smith told the Associated Press on Thursday that he wants to play "15 or 16 years" in the NFL, which would take him through the 2015 or 2016 seasons.

 

There's no reason to believe Smith can't stay productive. Despite bracket coverage and little consistent help on the opposite side, he's finished fifth and 12th in receiving yards in his first two years with Cam Newton at quarterback.

2 things need to be done before Smitty retires.

Get him a Lombardi, preferably two.

Get him HOF numbers.

 

Don't want to consider the Panthers in their current state without Smitty, achieving the above would make his retirement acceptable.
