Official Sammich of Carolina Huddle

I lived in Summerville SC which is 15 minutes outside of Charleston for 6 months and ate at every place you can think of, and over all Hymans is still my favorite.

Because tourists go there that means the food sucks? Or are you saying in order to be considered good food it has to be some super secret underground eatery that only 4 people have had the opportunity to sample?

Give me a bit tomorrow and I'll give you two recommendations that will make you forget that place in 5 minutes.  And only one of them has a special password to get in off of a back alley in SOB. :)

I'll admit, I will have a hankering for fried seafood once or twice a year (then regret it for the next day), and that place will fill the void if I'm back in town at the time.

lol I had to sign up (again) just to put my two cents in on this topic. "long time listener, first time caller" bs and all, but I think I've hit a home run with this one.

There is nothing more Carolinian than a LIVERMUSH Sandwich with Dukes Mayo and cheese!

it appears someone has sold NC scrapple and convinced them it's exciting and local.

I took this from Yahoo Answers (a credible source?) to highlight the differences between Livermush and Scrapple:

"Livermush (or Liver Mush or Liver Pudding) is a Southern United States foodstuff composed of pig liver, head parts, and cornmeal. It is commonly spiced with pepper and sage. Considered a more tolerable version of scrapple, livermush was most likely brought south through the Appalachian mountains by German settlers from Philadelphia. Livermush is colloquially known as poor man's or poor boy's pâté.

Scrapple is a savory mush in which cornmeal and flour, often buckwheat flour, are simmmered with pork scraps and trimmings, then formed into a loaf. Small scraps of meat left over from butchering, too small to be used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste. Scrapple is best known as a regional food of Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland."

So yeah they're pretty similiar...I think the main difference is that without the key ingredient of Liver, Livermush is just plain ol' scrapple, but scrapple doesn't have to have Liver in it at all. LMAO so I'm 4 posts deep in my stay on the Huddle, and I haven't mentioned the Panthers at all! I will say this: Greg Hardy is a BEAST of a man, and he and Luke will definitely be part of my IDP fantasy football team this year, even if I have to reach in the draft to get them!

"United States foodstuff composed of pig liver, head parts, "

Any food composed of head parts should not make this list.
