'Significant interest' in Jamarcus Russell. Has lost 50lbs since Feb.

Recommended Posts

he was an adult. still had responsibilities to himself.

i was younger than him when i lost my sister. it does throw you for a loop. it took me years to get over it. but i still had responsibilities to myself, and to be a productive part of society.

he didn't have to continue making bad decision after bad decision.

he could have chosen to make the most of his situation. instead he squandered it, and now im suppose to feel sorry for him?

im sorry he lost his mother.

but life goes on.

i suppose when.my dad dies, I'll have an excuse to quit a job i love, and fail to support myself and my family.

what a joke.

because everybody can handle a situation in the exact same way? It just doesn't work that way. He fuged up, he knows he fuged up and he is trying to make it back. What isn't there to like about that? I don't get the hate when he obviously has put in the work.   I never felt sorry for him, but i gained a different perspective on his situation. Which i'm sure a lot of other people did.

I was all but 23 when I lost my mom.

She was only 44. Massive Heart attack in her sleep.

If i had 40 mil in the bank and an Nfl career i still wouldnt give a fvck.

That poo fvked me up for couple of years.

Anyone who hasnt been through that, their opinion on this matter is worthless.

Its like someone giving advice on parenting and dosent have a kid.

I was 14 and had to make the call on whether or not to keep her on life support. She died and life continued.

If he lost 50 lbs and still has plenty of weight to lose he must have been way way way overweight. Hard to believe he has the singlemindedness to play quarterback in the  NFL given he never had it in college. If 50 million didn't motivate him the first time, it is hard to believe the vet minimum would do it now. Just because he loses weight doesn't mean he has the mind set to excel.

I recall reading somewhere that he had ballooned up to over 300 lbs.  He was way way way overweight.

Here is the deal, he pissed away:

1. His career

2. $17M

I get that he couldn´t handle the presure of being a NFL qb after all that happen to him. But in the process also pissing away all that money?

The number slot for back-up qbs are after all limited. I can guarantee you there are guys out there that have busted thier ass of with a much more limited talent and just as bad or worse thing happen to them in life fighting for that back-up spot (and also could handle that job just as good).

That everybody deserves A second chance does not mean someone deserves a second chance to play a game and make the same money in one year you get working 60 hours a week, 50 weeks a year at the minimum wage for 30 years.

Russell's problems are a lot bigger than weight.   He always had the physical skills but he didn't have the work ethic or attitude to succeed.  You can have him work out with Garcia and use trainers to shed the weight but it doesn't change what is in his head.

Plus as a starter he wasn't very good anyway.  He has a career passer rating of 65.2.  Completion percentage 52%,  18TDS and 23 INTs. Yeah, Clausen type numbers.  He sucked when he was playing before so losing the weight is only the first hurdle.  There are much bigger ones ahead.  At 27 years old the clock is ticking......

Why is he coming back??  Money. Not a burning desire to play football.  There is a big difference.

He's at the same weight as when he was drafted I believe.

His worth ethic and all that is definitely questionable, but I wouldn't hate too much on his stats the guy played for the Raiders.  He's doing all he can though, I mean losing 50 pounds and getting in shape DOES show work ethic.    He was young and stupid like a lot of us were and made some dumb choices, difference is we weren't making millions while doing it.   So he said he's even open the CFL if no NFL team wants him?  Shows a bit of humility IMO, although it could be just BS.
