Soccer Summer Transfer Thread...

I mean Sky Sports and Fox Soccer have both reported that Madrid has made an 85 million pound offer that Tottenham has rejected.  I get that Tottenham fans don't want to believe this, but there's much more smoke that Real is interested in Bale and the feeling is mutual, then the other way around.  Just my opinion....

Again, "according to reports" does not equate to an actual offer formally submitted to the club, especially when the club has denied they are willing to sell at any price.

Not due to my being a Spurs fan. This is just a case of "show me the contract." Until I see differently, including a contract signing, an official announcement by the Spurs stating he has been sold from their website, or Bale coming out and stating he is going to be moving to Madrid, I'll believe in the status quo. It's the same I feel when it comes to any moves, until I see it happening, it's all just conjecture and propaganda by the press without any real substance. If Bale is sold, he's sold for a hell of a lot of money that can used to help us grow by next window. If he's not, we still retain one of the best players in the world. Either way is a win, so I'm not upset either way. I'd like for him to stay and build the team with us, but if he goes, so be it.

According to Sky Bale has formally told AVB that he wants to be allowed to go to Madrid.  If that's true it will surely expedite the process, and Levy won't get anything close to the 98m and Coentrao deal he is apparently asking for....

Gareth Bale has left Tottenham's training ground for the day after telling Andre Villas-Boas he wants to join Real Madrid.

In the meantime, Bale spent around five hours at the club's north London training centre on Wednesday and underwent treatment on a muscle injury, departing shortly after 2pm.  And, according to Sky sources, the 24-year-old took the opportunity while there to confirm his desire to leave for Spain.

Villas-Boas said at the weekend he was hopeful of having Bale fit for a friendly against Monaco this Saturday, but the concern now for Tottenham supporters is whether last season's double Player of the Year will be around for the start of the new season.

One former Spurs player, Jamie Redknapp, told Sky Sports' Football Season Preview show he believes it is now inevitable Bale will leave for Madrid, saying the club "always sells at the right price."

Yea, that's what makes me pretty certain too.  Spurs always recoup almost all of what they spend.  Only way to do that at this point is to sell Bale.  They will get a more than fair deal, but it won't be anything close to the 145m package that Levy is rumored to want....

Lots of places reporting deal has been agreed to in principle.  Fees differ, but the most common seems to be right at 120 million Euros for the total package.  Looks like it will probably include at least one RM player to bring the cash down (Coentrao seems to be the name most media outlets agree on).  That means di Maria will probably be sold to somewhere like Monaco who a month ago offered close to 60 million pounds for ADM and Coentrao together.  There has been talk of using CR7 at ST this year, so that would open up Bale's more familiar LW spot, and ADM would stay at RW.  That would still create a lot of havoc as both players have blistering pace, and ADM is a VERY underrated crosser of the ball.  Honestly I would rather see Jese' get those starting minutes and play on the RW, but that's just me.  Either way I'm glad this looks to be finally coming to an end.  No reason for it to drag out like Modric last year.  RM wants Bale, and according to every report in the last 24 hours Bale wants RM, just get the deal done and move on.  Tottenham can rebuild with the small fortune, and RM can look towards the pressure of having to win a CL trophy for this to be deemed a success....
