you make that sound like it's bad thing.

only add on to that having the guts to kill your own meat if you're going to eat and knowing that you are providing food for yourself and ur family that wasn't raised inhumanely and pumped up with all kinds of nasty steroids and other chemicals and then out thru some nasty preservative process that increases your chance of cancer.

if you're gonna eat meat, you should be willing and able to kill it and process it yourself.

and that>>>>>>>>>getting some frikkin pedicure.

after 17 years of being in the ground they come out like this...

and then they come out by the thousands....and i mean thousands as in millions....and do this EVERYWHERE

Cicada%2Bhatching.jpg

leaving behind this all over trees, plants, picnic tables...

and then they go up in the trees and make all that sound trying to attract mates so they can do this...

and then the females lay a bunch of eggs in the ground and those stay there for another 17 years.

i took my daughter on a walk to the back side of our property and i heard some cracking and a tall spindly tree that was totally loaded with them fell over and broke. most of the time we were walking we were having to dodge cicadas flying around and bumping into us.

these things aren't small, either. about an inch to an inch and a half.

tons of fun.

yep.

Man, I remember finding those shells EVERYWHERE on trees and poo when I was kid.  Never knew what they were called and have always wanted to see what one outside of its shell looked like.  I would seriously actively go around looking in the woods and poo when I was little trying to find a live one because they were some of the weirdest looking things I'd ever seen.

And it was even more interesting than I ever thought it would be (17 fuging years?  And completely changing colors/form that quick?).

You just fulfilled one of my childhood curiosities, sir.  Enjoy the pie. :)

I still haven't heard any at all.

it's weird, I can drive five-ten minutes away and hear nothing. It's pretty sporadic. not sure it's like that every year. I can hear them migrating around the property, tho. For the first week they were on the north side of the land and then we started hearing them more on the south side and most recently they were most loud on the west side. I'm not sure if that is happening on a larger scale.

Man does that sound like a day at the inlaws. Go in the house and all the adults are too annoying to be around. Go outside and all those snotty nosed brats are screaming and yelling so much it annoys the dead. Go to the pool room and all the drunk kids are screaming and fighting. There is no where for a normal person to hide.

I love the wife. But her family really should be on some reality show. Part Jewish, part Cherokee, and part Irish. Just a bunch of loud mouths, that can't hold their liquor. And that is a good day. On a bad day? I wear a flak jacket and keep my head down.

And just to make this Panther related. GOOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In normal life. My two favorite words are, Yes Dear.

So when I come in here, I get to be me. Where I can have a thought the wife didn't give me. The direction I go has no compass. I let the wind lead me, and try to enjoy the ride. Like giving CRA hell for his "only one ball" spiel. Or rayzor and his "I'm tired of being tired of waiting".

I really do love this place. You guys/gals are an entertaining lot. And I don't have to dodge bullets.

Also, the wife is 14 years younger. That generation irks me no end anyhow.

Who comes off the field when we go nickel? Beast? Until he shows he is back, I would think so.
