Hixon excited about fresh start in Carolina

Recommended Posts

Smith's replacement should already be on the roster but I respect the job Gettleman has done to make our depth better and give Smith at least a little help. Ginn and Hixon automatically make our 3/4 WR options better. IF Gettis is healthy then we will be okay.

The Saints have been pretty much garbage at WR for a while now but that system makes it happen. If Taints can, we can to.

As unimpressive as Louis Murphy was I dont see Ginn as an upgrade over him at all. At the very best, it's a wash.

Yep. Ginn as a WR isn't worth talking about.

He is a return man. That he upgrades.

Id argue system and style of play....means we need better WR talent. We aren't gonna run 3 and 4 wide all game and asking our QB to pick on a D. We want WRs to beat guys deep downfield. Hard to run a deep vertical pass attack with average joes

I'd argue that 20,000 posts did not cure you from making vague and simplistic claims to validate your ideas.

Vertical passing attack does not mean every pass has to travel 40-50 yards and result in a TD. The way you make it sound, there will never be a WR that can meet your expectations.

Cam is at the top in regards to yards per attempt. By definition, that means Cam is throwing the ball further down the field than almost everybody. Which, by extension, means we are running a vertical passing game.

Let's see, we were a top 10ish Offense last year. Sounds to me like we are pretty good at what we do. Not sure where your fear is rooted, but I don't see how we can be doing this well with what did you call them, oh yeah, "Average Joe's".

Both Smitty and Lafell avg over 15 yards per catch. Actually Smitty is over 16 but I digress. That ain't worth worrying over to me. But you go right ahead thinking we don't get the ball down the field.

You kids and your I want More, I want Bigger, I want Better slay me.

A vertical threat has to be able to take the top of the defense. It makes this scheme work. Makes all the plays they don't go to him work as well.

We are running a vertical pass O. We don't have the legit vertical threat needed. Which again, was the point of the statement. Yes, you can ask Louis Murphy to run those routes.....and function.

I never said we don't get the ball downfield. Those are pretty much the only throws our QBs likes....

Louis Murphy and whoever is going to run those vertical this year.....are average Joes. That is being nice most likely.

Our yards per receptions stat doesn't mean we have that vertical presence needed....just means we have a QB who uses his legs as his short game, sucks at short throws, and he and the O is about going deep

Cam's back is getting tired...silly act like we good enough weapons around Cam simply bc of his ability to put is on his back and have us statistically respectable

When the Jaguar WRs find the endzone more than your WRs you either have a QB issue, WR issue or you simply run the ball all game.

Oh no you didn't. So...nvm. You win. We are doomed. Cam is doomed. Because everybody knows, if your WR aren't scoring all hope is lost.

Hey, if you can't have a discussion then don't reply....pretty simple.

WRs are something can and should be talked about. I am sure our GM is....considering the only one under contract after this year is getting old and his usage recently altered.

Spinning it that guys are butthurt or think we are doomed bc they wont take a Baghdad Bob approach that we are great....is kinda pointless

considering that you have made basically the same post about 250 times over the past month.....maybe you are the one that is not really adding anything new.

We get it....you wanted and still want WR's to be added to the roster.  Saying it over and over and over and over and over won't change things......let it go.

We will have to see how this roster finishes shaping up during camp and the season.

I don't disagree with that....and acknowledge such. But the other side is guilty of said crime as well....and realistic this board is functions to host such repeatitive talks. I mean, frankly unless we talk about fluff articles this time of year will feature nothing but recycled talking points.

Smitty may be getting old. But how has his usage altered? What does that even mean? That is what I am up against when discussing this with you.

What does the Jags WR corp having more TDs than ours have to do with this? Another pull a rabbit out of the hat statement from you.

We run a vertical O. You have that right. But we don't run it the way you want, so something has to be done about it? We have a very prolific O when it is working. I see nothing wrong, so I don't grasp at straws to make my points.

Or how about that, only one ball, you love to use? You totally disregard that when healthy, Stewy and DWill were both in the game. At the same time. The problem is Stewy has never been 100%, so it is difficult to rely on him.

Also, you actually stated that Cam sucks at the short throws. This was proven wrong last year when Cam started taking those check downs. But you brought it up to make a point that we need to throw the ball deep. Because that is what Cam likes to do. Every mfing QB in the league wants to throw the ball deep. That is not a new idea.

Those are off the top of my head. You have a history of over inflating your own opinions to make your points sound valid. Personally, I love it. It gives me someone to debate with. If you don't like the way I debate, you don't have to reply to me.

There are literally 1000's of opinions on here to debate. Yours are just more fun because you use your imagination to back your opinion. I like to stick with what I see, read, and hear. Then try to make an informed statement.

Smitty may be the only WR under contract for next year. If that makes you nervous, have at it. Me, I believe that Gettlemen will resign Lafell. If Hixon has the type of year we expect, I expect him to be resigned as well. Pilares has an opportunity, he was involved in the O until his injury. If he plays well, he could be resigned. Adams is still under contract. Ginn has a chance to actually show he can be a WR here. If he can contribute, he may be resigned.

Then there is the draft, and FA. I am quite sure we are not going to go into next season with Smitty and a bunch of, off the street hires.

Ok, that's it for now. I am positive you can dismiss all my claims with some convoluted logic. So have at it. I have the stamina to go all day.

Agree with your comments.

I hate the offseason.  We just seem to keep having the same 3-4 conversations over and over....just in a different thread.

I have high hopes about this season's offense.....especially given all of the comments (from Shula, Tolbert, etc) about how they are going to run the ball and feature the RB's again this season.

I see that as a huge improvement......power running game....play action passing game....throw in Cam running a couple of times a game (designed), Cam scrambling, and a few read options......and this could be a fun and dangerous offense.  It would give DC's fits to prepare for.
