Hixon excited about fresh start in Carolina

Recommended Posts

Steve Smith had 1 TD through 11 games last year. He has had double digits once in his cares and that was 8 years ago.

People are so focused with him being replace with a clone of himself. I think the current version of Smith can be replaced. Hell, he wasn't affordable but Mike Wallace IMO gets into the endzone more than Smith in this offense with Cam.

No the fug you didn't just type that. The guy had just under 1200 yards receiving and 4 TD's.

Imagine if our offense hadn't been a shell of itself the first half of the season.

Calvin Johnson ended the season with only 5 TD's last year. I guess he's lost a step too?

Please redeem yourself after that horrible post. You disappoint me.

Again, people are too focused thinking Smith needs to be replaced with a WR like Smith.

Smith is a yardage guy....not a TD guy. Always has leaned that way.

Yes....Steve Smith can be replaced. He needs to be...HE HIMSELF has talked about moving and that was years ago. Need a vertical threat and someone that gets in the endzone. Smitty can have a place in any offense...but he ain't King Kong no more.

...and in the last 5 years Megatron has posted 16, 12, and 12 TD seasons. Double digit on 3 of his last 5. Smitty's high over the last half decade is 7. Two different beasts....not sure why you would even bring Johnson into this

Yardage guy, endzone guy. Doesn't matter, a threat is a threat.

With the current backfield weapons we have combined with Cam. There's no reason we can't punch in a TD.

and Smith is a declining threat...

do we really need to enter a 3rd season boasting about this backfield? We have a QB now....we aren't going to mask a hole that no longer exists by going ground and pound

Steve's replacement should have been drafted years ago. No use crying over spilt milk now.

Our backs had how many yards last year? Cam lead them all. Smart playcalling will help this offense tremendously.

I think next year Gettleman goes all in on WR. Hopefully then this vaginal bleeding about the position will subside.

Agree with the first part.

Smart playcalling also means putting the ball in Newton's hands. We have too many RBs and there value overlaps. We can put a good runner on the field....the ones on the sideline really don't mean as much as we make it out to be.

2011.....we didn't have Tolbert and there still weren't enough touches for the RBs.

Well lucky for us we added another RB in this draft. Yay?

I don't get this fantasy that we were going to find a WR in this draft or afford a WR in free agency who could have unseated Lafell, let alone Steve. You really think Smitty will just be replaced and smile? Not while he's on the roster..

I'm moving forward. I'm thinking forward forwardand just hoping the team is in that regard as well.

and it doesn't matter if smitty smiles when, and i mean WHEN, he's replaced as long as he is. we have to be getting ready to move forward cause it's gonna happen. the longer we wait the harder it's going to be. he's the greatest that ever wore the panthers uni, but we have to be getting ready to move on.

i want us to pick up receivers that are so good they allow us to move forward an improved team.

Unfortunately life isn't a fairy tale and elite receivers don't just come along everyday. Nor do they simply just step in and "replace" franchise players and possible future hall of famers just because fans expect it immediately.

Who says our GM isn't thinking forward? Maybe you can't see it past the hysteria.

The main thing I would like to know from Hixon is what Cam needs to do to take it to the next level. He has been with a Superbowl winning QB, I just want to know how Cam compares.

Hixon has 37 total postseason rec yards....and none from a game NY won.

Not sure Hixon qualifies as the man to answer that

Eh I'd rather have the td guy than the yardage guy. This team has a problem with passing in the end zone. Part of that is Cam part of it is he doesn't have any end zone targets.
