New Uniforms...

The only reason it should be changed is because one flag signals a tropical depression and two flags signal a hurricane. Other than that, the hockey stick with a "hurricane" flag on it is flawless.

I'm not sure if they are designing them for the players or for marketing, because I can guarantee you that they will have a tough time selling those home one's. Everyone I have talked to says it's just too much red.

The away jersey will be a big seller, I think a lot of people really like those. Even people that are not fans of our team.

That's what I was mainly talking about, updating it and making it two flags. Maybe a couple of other really small tweaks to make the two flags fit and look right.

Since it's was said that JR and E. Staal had a hand in the redesign, I'm going to say they were made for the players first. Merchandise sales don't really make a ton of money for the team.  It's mostly going to the NHL and the Players.

I also think that the away jersey is going to be a big hit.

They need to mirror the away jersey onto the home jersey and add the second logo to the shoulder but mirror the second logo on each shoulder so that the flags are blowing in the same direction. IMO that away jersey is perfect but change these few things and move the primary logo down about 2 inches and they will blow everyone out of the water.

The old jerseys were on sale when the season ended.  IDK about now though.

Alright so there's pictures floating around of Eric wearing the home jersey from the event and it looks way better than on the mannequin.  All in all, I'm just glad they didn't change the logo to the storm flag with "Carolina Hurricanes" around it in a circle or something.

Also they're keeping the same thirds so the storm flag belt thing isn't going away entirely.

It kinda bugs me that Staal had a say in it. This kinda confirms my suspicions that they mirrored Canada's jersey to make the Staal's happy. No organization should ever bend over backwards for any player.

There's a few team Canada guys on the team that either play for the Olympic team or the world team. The Staal brothers, Skinner and Ward.

Also Rod Brind'amour and Ron Francis had input on the jersey, they were brought in before the final design and were asked for input on the jersey. Coach Kirk Muller is the one that got the Lace added to the Home jersey. The basis of the design came from original 6 jersey styles.

If you go and look at the behind the scenes video, they go over most of the guys who had some input on the design.

They don't mention Staal during the video, but they do mention that he had direct input on it in the press conference.

How is asking for the captain of the team's opinion on a jersey that he has to wear for 82 games "bending over backwards"?

What do you think that means for the future? When his contract is up, he can basically name his own price. Jordan too. We got to keep the family together! lol Or if they just start declining in ability? We'll hang on to them till the bad heavily outweighs the good like the Panthers did with Delhomme.

I like the new jerseys.  I think they're less loud but still very organic and true to the original.  I'm not into the warning flags.  I think I could own a home jersey now and go out and public and look clean, not tacky.   Away jersey is awesome, but not practical to own since it's white.  Be interested to say how the black alt looks.
