DT Nate Chandler to offensive tackle?

He wants to be on the field--can't blame him for that.  I have a very good feeling about this--he seems to have the size, measurables, and the athleticism to play T.  Maybe....

Not weird at all. Happens fairly routinely.

I've felt since early on in the draft process that Fluker would make for an excellent NT and would have still been taken high in the draft had he gone that route in college.

i think 6'6 and 290-300 lbs. he's got room for more bulk from what i can tell.

With the way DE's are going, this really isn't a bad thing. Quickness and balance are much more valuable in an OT these days than strength and mauling ability.

I think it is a pretty simple numbers game.  There are 9 DTS on the current roster, there are 4 Tackles. 

 

Of those 9 DTs, 3 have solidified their position in the rotation.  Of the 4 Tackles, 1 is a solidified starter.

If I'm not mistaken, that's J.R. Sweezy who went to NCSU.

 

Yes, this is correct.  J.R. Sweezy from NC State played DT all 4 years in college.  Never played Offensive Line in his life, but the Seahawks drafted him in the 7th round and moved him to OT.  If I'm not mistaken, he actually won the starting job.

 

I mean it kinda makes sense.  If you're good at beating Offensive Lineman, you might be good at not getting beat too.

That reminds me of a Gettleman story where he saw like a tight end from a small school and the Giants ( I think) moved him to offensive tackle and he flourished.

Will Beatty? I don't know if that was all gettleman's doing but I think that's who your referencing

I doubt the expectation is for him to ever start. I wouldn't worry about two inches.

No one is saying this is our answer to the O-line situation, but he does have a better shot at making the O-line since we added 2 drafted DTs and other DT FAs (but not OTs)

Interesting move for sure, but I think he can pull off and make the roster. Not sure about him taking Bell's spot or anything like that though.
