What will it take for Rivera to Save his Job?

Play calling and proper game management cost us almost every game.

Thats pretty difficult to quantify - but undoubtedly  Rivera made some bone headed  game management calls - that either left points on the field or led to points in our opponents column

Im also rooting for the guy - He is likeable, seems forthright and the players seem to respect him.  On the other hand I want a change in January 2014, if he cant coach and lead us to winning season and playoff berth this year.

With our schedule as tough as it is, Rivera should stay if we can get 9 wins. To me, the playoffs---which are a possibility---would be icing on the cake.

I like what Ron has done building the team, and I think it would definitely hurt the team for a few years if he were to get axed if we go .500 or more.  I think that we are still a few pieces away from championship material, and I want to see what Rivera does with his growth as a coach and all the pieces in place.

It wasn't the point I was trying to make and I could be wrong, but for argument's sake...

CHI goes 16-0 clenches division

NYG go 15-1, clench division (split games with DAL)

SF goes 15-1 clenches division

ATL goes 15-1 clenches division

DAL goes 15-1 (split games with NYG but loses tiebreaker)

SEA goes 15-1 (split games with SF but loses tiebreakers)

We finish 15-1 but lose the wildcard spot to tiebreakers

It's impossible. Has to be at least 5 15-1 teams besides the Panthers. Can't come from NFCW bc they play NFCS and Panthers have to split series w/ division winner for only loss. That means the 4 15-1 teams come from NFCE & NFCN, but since they play each other it is literally impossible.

JR makes the call and he kept Hurney for 10 long years. Why does everyone think Ron will be fired if we dont make the playoffs?

Hurney went to 2 NFCCG and a Superbowl...few teams can claim such in that sort of window.

Richardson almost let Ron go after this last year....made a big production of allowing him to stay. So that is the main reason that slaps you in the face

Yeah, I guess you ARE right.

Or, Panthers could go 15 - 1 and before the playoffs start the meteor hits.

Probably more plausible.

But dont we play 3 of these teams? (Sea, SF, ATL) .  If SF and SEA split with each other for their 1 loss each and we split with Atl for a loss each.  Then either Car, SF, or Sea will have more than one loss correct?

10-6 or playoffs in my opinion.  10-6 and no playoffs isn't marginal growth like we've shown the past 2 years.  It's substantial growth.  However, if we go 10-6 based on talent alone and there's still boneheaded blunders and stupid decisions leading to those 6 losses I say he should still get fired.
