Len please don't make the same dumb mistake we did not drafting Lopez.

I've never understood this comparison. The only similarities are that they are tall and have that stupid looking no-jump midrange shot. Brook Lopez put up 20 ppg his sophomore year in college. Len put up 12...

Then you don't know what you're looking for.

Len has more offensive skill sets then Lopez has now.

Len is faster more of a athlete has more range and a face up game now that Lopez doesn't have.

Plus he will be a better rebounder which Lopez isn't good at.

You may not be wrong, but I think you inadvertently proved my point. That point being that they are different players.

Alex Len may have more offensive moves but it did not translate to more points in college. Like I said, Brook Lopez was close to 20 ppg his sophomore year. Alex Len, who supposedly has more offensive skill sets, scored 13. Could that be due partly to his guard play on his team? Maybe. But could you realistically say that with more attempts he would put up 20 ppg? I'm not sure that he could. 20 ppg is tough to do in any league.

I see Len more as potentially a slightly better Jonas Valanciunas. And no, it's not because they are both 7'0, white, Europeans. They just move and do so many things similar. Is that a bad player? No. Not at all. I would gladly take him if we had a second pick in the 10-13 range (although I'd prefer Olynyk, but that's for a different time). However, I think it's a serious stretch to compare him to the best scoring C in the NBA. Like I said, outside of being 7'1" and being able to knock down that no-jump midrange shot, I just don't see anything else that should compare the two. Like you said yourself, I think that Len is a bit better in the post, on defense, and as a rebounder. But that is a COMPLETELY different player from what Brook Lopez does.

I would take Len.

He actually plays with an aggressive edge, which is not the norm for the Euro big men.

He has potential to control the lane on the defensive end.

I like the idea of the pick and roll with him and Kemba.

Yeah, the injury situation does worry me a bit.

However, if you believe the bobcats will suck next year (i do) then you have to take a long term look at this draft and team.  If we are awful again next season, then we can almost assume a top 3 pick, (Wiggins, Randle, Parker) and then we can look to pair that with Len from this year.

Point being, this might be the season we take a high pick on a developmental big who wont have the immediate pressure to right the ship. I think this is the year to draft big.  Next year we get the scorer.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this, but the Washington Post is suggesting that the Wizards are seriously thinking about Otto Porter.

We'll they might have to trade up. Cavs are supposedly very interested in Porter. Don't know if that's a bluff to get someone to move up, but we'll see.

I really still see McLemore being there at 4 unless someone do trade up for him, which I don't really see happening. Only player really worth trading up for is Noel just bc of the importance of having a big.

Cavs: (1) Noel, (2) Porter, (3) Porter

Orlando: (1) Trey, (2) Noel, (3) Trey

Was: (1) Porter, (2) Bennett, (3) Noel

Hornets: McLemore

Orlando might trade back a few spots to like 5-6 and still be able to get Trey, so I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that someone makes a move up for McLemore.  I honestly still think that the Magic stay put and take McLemore and try and find a taker for Afflalo.

Also, ESPN is showing something weird that wasn't there the other day.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
