Said we're submitting for the name change in 2014-15.

Said we overwhelmingly wanted the name back, so "we went out and bought the name back."

Said trying to engage the community since he bought the team, and we wanted the name change so here it is.  The community asked for it, so we did it.

Submitted the paperwork today to make the name change, so the process has just started.

Said listened to feedback from fans...  Said it was 'overwhelming' the support for the change from the fans.

Said we have to apply for it, then goes to the board of governors.  It's a process.

Pete Guelli says it's the first step in a long process.

 

Once the board of governors vote on it in June, the process will speed up.

Still has to go up for a vote, which will take place in July.

Asked about screen behind MJ, and if the colors mean anything...  Said it's too early to get into all of that because they have to be respectful of the process.

MJ said once NO gave up the name, "the energy began to mount." 

 

MJ has repeatedly referenced part of the inspiration behind getting the name back was the energy and support that fans gave Charlotte back when he would come here to play against the Hornets as a player.

Once the name change takes place the team wouldn't own the rights to the Bobcats anymore, so we don't have to worry about those being throwbacks. lol
