We're a little late with starting the thread since the Spurs are up 1-0 after a blowout in Game One. and although I'm rooting for my favorite player of all time (Tim Duncan) to win one last ring, I think Memphis wins this in 6. Z-Bo had a horrible Game 1, but I expect him to rebound and for the Spurs age to show. I really hope I am wrong.

Yeah, good looking out on the thread man.

I'm gonna have to crash course in the expected format/info in each of our game threads for next year.  I made them in the past but just with basic info and without pics/stats, lol.

As far as the series, I always pulled for the Spurs growing up b/c of the Admiral.  I also liked Timmy and have always kind of pulled for Tony Parker because he was sort of an underdog, at least as far as Popovich goes.  And how can you not love Ginobili?

But, for some reason, I am pulling for the Grizzlies in this series.  I think it's one of those things where, if it's not your hometeam that's having such an awesome run of success, it's cool for them to get a 'chip or two, but after that, I'm ready to see someone else win it.  The Spurs have had a good run, but I like the Grizzlies scrappy style of play and would like to see someone new and unexpected in the Finals.

Glad to see Danny Green balling out. Who'da thought he'd be the 2nd best NBA player from that team? (Ty Lawson)

I tell you what, I'm amazed at how far he has come.

I still don't think he starts on most teams, but Pop is able to make it work because how good Tony Parker is at finding the open man.

DG is strictly a spot of shooter as you can tell from this year playoffs, but sometimes that works... especially when you have a point guard that can find the open man.

He's playing great on the defensive side too. Hitting clutch shots etc. Did that at UNC too.

Yes sir, I only remember one time being legitimately pissed at him and that was in the ACC Tournament (the year we won the NCAA Championships) when he was hitting a damn thing, but then got it together in the NCAA Tournament.

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
