hmmm so I cant let a friend borrow a game? its tied to my account. Looks like I am sharing accounts with some friends. We can install NBA 2k on an account and COD on another account and justshare accounts to whatever we want to play. Correct?

I've been on team Xbox since the beginning and I have no interest in this. I am predicting that Xbox will go the way of SEGA this generation and Sony will reign supreme again. Xbox is trying to turn gaming into nothing but a greedy business that sucks your wallet dry and charges for every small thing, while it seems like Sony is sticking to the formula that has worked for decades without any problems.

I know some idiots would respond with "WELL ITS A BUSINESS AND THEY ONLY DO IT TO MAKE MONEY" Well yeah it is, but I don't like the way they're doing business anymore so I'm bringing my money elsewhere. The entire downloading games to the hard drive, used game fees, always online, etc are completely pointless additions to the video game industry. If Sony follows suit I'll likely quit buying new games all together and stick with the enormous library of classic games and current gen games that are out there.

Based on the way it's being explained right now, yes. It's tied to an account. You'd have to download it each time you switched but that's how it would work.

Do they even want to sell any consoles.  I get not playing 360 discs, but forcing customers to not be able to trade in their 360's for credit because you won't allow them to play Arcade games on the One?  Fuging poor business and really lame....

Neither one of them are BC for any type of games because they are both using different architecture this time around, so they would have to include the ps3 or x360 chipset in the box.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's been nothing to state PSN games won't work on the PS4....

They have actually hinted at cloud based streaming for older games in the library from what I've read....

Yes, they've mentioned the cloud based streaming. No telling what games will be available or when the service itself will be available.

http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/21/sony-psn-games-wont-transfer-to-ps4/

Architecture is too different, they would need to include the ps3 chipset on the ps4 to enable most of the games to transfer right over. Ps1 & ps2 games might transfer over, same for lower end PSN titles that don't use a bunch of system resources.

Both systems are going from PowerPC chips to x86 chipsets and it makes the BC issues near impossible with out including the old chipsets or emulator software that is resource hungry.

I love the sheer amount of speculation about the XboxOne and PS4...  Everyone rushing to judgements based on extremely limited vague information...  Super hilarious!

I also love how worked up everyone is getting over the whole online activation and the used games issues.  I mean, I like used games, but we don't know how exactly that's going to work.  We know some limited information, but nothing definative.  Sony has been really tight aisde from saying "You can play used games!"  Which isn't extactly saying "Things aren't changing."  Or "I don't want to have to be online, MS could shut down the servers, what happens when the power is out?"  Again, we don't have the details.  I know my 360 is online all the time (when its on), and so are the rest of my consoles.  My phone is online, my computer is online.  Actually, most of the things I use for entertainment and information are online all the time.  I'm no worried.

Oh, I have a great solution for the Kinect always on thing, it's called a shoe box if it's such a big deal.  Again, if they want to see me doing naked kinect-ercise (freedom of movement kids!), or when I watch stuff on netflix...whatever.

I can't wait for E3, I'm really looking forward to getting some more concrete information.  Though the biggest thing, if this stuff does make you rage, then build a gaming PC.  A modest investment will get you those "next gen graphics" without the rest of the hassles.  Plus there are a lot of digital gaming market places to keep prices low.

Bah, my post got too long!

^ The online activation and used games issues were talked about by MS themselves and that's were the information came from. Well before they told everyone to shut up about it in interviews.

The online connection always on is only for games that need online connections continuously. While the system itself needs to be connected at minimum when you buy and start installing new games.

As for the power specs, that was once again released by MS in a panel that went live after the event. It was watchable online. So we do for fact know that the PS4 and xbox one use the same architecture down to using the same CPU's and similar GPU's. The difference between the systems is that the PS4 is 50% more powerful in Flops and uses gddr5 instead of the gddr3 found in the one.

MS themselves have released a ton of information about a few things on a FAQ.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/22/xbox-one-what-we-do-and-dont-know

Now there's some confusion on used game fee's and so forth, but that's because of MS themselves and what Phil Harrison talked about in interviews after the event. They may have changed some of that around since then, who knows. He kept at it though and officially gave this statement to eurogamer. Imagine how much smoother this would have gone for MS if not for the statements from Harrison in his two interviews with Eurogamer.

This is Harrison's second attempt at talking with eurogamer to calm the storm he created with the used game issues.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-22-phil-harrison-tries-again-to-clarify-game-ownership-second-hand-sales-and-always-online-in-xbox-one

"So, think about how you use a disc that you own of an Xbox 360 game," he began. "If I buy the disc from a store, I use that disc in my machine, I can give that disc to my son and he can play it on his 360 in his room. We both can't play at the same time, but the disc is the key to playing. I can go round to your house and give you that disc and you can play on that game as well.

"What we're doing with the digital permissions that we have for Xbox One is no different to that. If I am playing on that disc, which is installed to the hard drive on my Xbox One, everybody in my household who has permission to use my Xbox One can use that piece of content. [so] I can give that piece of content to my son and he can play it on the same system."

Harrison then explained what happens when you want to take that game beyond the borders of your own home and into a friend's place.

"I can come to your house and I can put the disc into your machine and I can sign in as me and we can play the game," he explained.

"The bits are on your hard drive. At the end of the play session, when I take my disc home - or even if I leave it with you - if you want to continue to play that game [on your profile] then you have to pay for it. The bits are already on your hard drive, so it's just a question of going to our [online] store and buying the game, and then it's instantly available to play.

"The bits that are on the disc, I can give to anybody else, but if we both want to play it at the same time, we both have to own it. That's no different to how discs operate today."

"We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store," Harrison said. "We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course."

Harrison would not be drawn on how this worked, even as I suggested various scenarios. For example, I asked whether you would need to pay for the second-hand disc at a storeand then pay a fee to Microsoft when you got home, a bit like an Online Pass. Harrison wouldn't be drawn.

"Our goal is to make it really customer-centric, really simple and really understandable and we will announce those details in due course.

Anyway, I took the opportunity of a second audience with Harrison to ask some follow-ups about Xbox One's always-online aspects as well.

"Some bits of the system will work offline," he said. "I think the key point to make is that Xbox One requires an internet connection, but it does not need to be connected all the time. We think that most of the biggest games on Xbox One and most of the games and experiences and services you want to use will be internet-connected."

Everybody got that? Xbox One requires an internet connection, but not all the time.

"I don't want to trivialise the issue because I know people are passionate about it, but I think most people will realise that the vast majority of content and experiences that they will want to enjoy on Xbox One will be the ones that have an online connectivity," he continued.

"I think where people have anxiety understandably is what happens when the internet connection goes down for a few minutes or a few hours. On our side, with the infrastructure investments that we as Microsoft have made in Azure and Xbox Live dedicated servers that we will have for Xbox One, we are very confident that we have the infrastructure to support all of the players and all of the connections. And although it's not directly an Xbox issue, it's something Microsoft is proven to be really good at with Office 365."

Nope, don't give two craps about internet connectivity.  I want my game system to play games when and where I want it to - its first priority is not to be an internet-enabled machine.

Yea if the game takes advantage of cloud saves or Azura then that game has to be online all the time even if it's a single player game. With that said I think MS is pushing cloud saves and Azura for devs to take advantage of them. So I expect most games to require an internet connection anyways. Not a big deal for me, but for some it is.

Exactly - a way for MS to "pass the buck" about the always-on requirement.
