It was sort of a curveball and really came across as being shoehorned in.

There point is that up until that point she was a bright intellectual type. The implication being thats not good enough for a gal, need to see her in her underwear.

 

Taking my 11 year old stepson tomorrow - showed him the trailer and when that scene popped up he involuntarily said "whoa". And hes definitely looking forward to the movie. Marketing objective accomplished.

I was never big into Star Trek either before these movies.

Older shows/movies? No not really. I would try to see the first movie though.

I thought it was pretty meh.  Really enjoyed the last one however.  I've never really been in to Star Trek that much.

Just saw it flowed real well and had some great scenes.

That was never going to happen with what happened with

the original Wrath of Khan movie that kills Spock off. They received enough backlash from that, for them to never kill one of those two off.

 

 

 

As for the movie itself, I enjoyed it, but my GF who's a huge Star Trek fan called it meh, it's another

Kahn movie

No you really don't really need to see the last movie (except for one scene) or know anything about ST to enjoy it. I really liked this movie, I think it might be the best ST movie made so far...at least as good as STII: TWoK
