Star Trek Into Darkness Review

I went into the movie with high hopes, and I was not let down.

 

Really good movie. Good story, good action, good acting. Plenty to like for the new trek crowd and the old.

 

The villain was great, I am a big fan of that guy from the Sherlock series.

 

This is a must see summer movie. Much better than Iron Man 3.

 

I loved the take on reversing the roles of Spock and Kirk from the original sequel. Great idea. Having Spock yell "KHAAAAAAAAAN" was awesome. Made my day.

It was a great movie.  I enjoyed it.  It's JUST as good as the first, probably better because yeah the Sherlock dude stole the show.   The only thing to complain about is that it really isn't Star Trek-ish, but I don't know why people are surprised because the first one wasn't either.  I grew up watching Next Generation and I can agree it's not Star Trek-ish but I can also understand that I'm not sure a movie like that would be as successful as a movie like these.  Overall, great summer action/sci-fi flick, while not being Trek-ish but still great.  Not enough actual "space" battles but yeah.

Really? I grew up watching Next Gen but I've been watching The Original Series a lot recently, it felt a lot like that to me, obviously updated.

Yeah, but go back and watch the first trek movie... it was worse. I found it endearing to have the same type of overacting.

I literally remember 5 minutes of the first movie.  Black hole in my mind for some reason but I remember liking it, except for the annoying halos/sunburst effects.

I had never seen any trek movie before but really enjoyed it, the villain was great. It was easy to understand and was actually pretty funny

Am diggin the new take on trek. Less philosophical but far less sterile. The writing and direction is much more polished

Apperantly the Carol Marcus scene where she is getting undressed has casued a lot controvery. A writer from the movie even apologized for it.
