Who all remembers the Smash and Dash name controversy?

You said we have 3 players who use or have the Superman nickname on our team alone.  How am I making it into something else?

I can't remember the last time someone referred to Smith as Superman.  He is not "often" associated with Superman.  So no, I do not feel dumb.  My point remains.  Smith has never really had the moniker Superman.  At least not nearly to the extent of Newton and I've seen Kuechly referred to as Kent or something in the ilk than I have Smith called Superman.

Tis all I'm saying.  I do not consider Smith to have that nickname because rarely has he been referred to as that.  Again though, maybe I'm wrong.  I'm the Cam Era fan over here so maybe the true Panther fan can show me.

I can't help you if you were unaware of Smith being referred to as Superman. I'm sorry if you missed out on that point in our franchise. Not gonna waste my time trying to make you understand something though, later bro.

I just googled "Steve Smith, Superman."  He isn't even the first Smith that comes up.  1 picture putting a Superman thing on his chest doesn't mean anything.  There is no article calling him that.  Nothing.  I can't remember the last time in a game he has been referred as that.  Mind showing us, True Panthers Fan?

Smith's moniker has never been Superman.  He may have been called that sporadically by fans but it was never to the level of Newton or to a lesser extent, Kuechly with Clark Kent as seen by his little video in the NFL Top 100 thing.  Nobody has ever said, "Touchdown by Carolina's Superman" in reference of Smith except maybe a minuscule amount in 2005 / his early days.  Keep in mind, too, that was then (and I wouldn't say it was his moniker then, either).  We're talking now, making what I'm saying even more true.

Unlike you, however, I'm not as apologetic that you can't put a grasp on what I'm saying.

I'm pretty sure all of this stuff is done just for fun by thevathletes and the only people who get upset are the type of fans who argue this stuff online without end.

I don't recall Newton or any commentator ever referring to Newton as Superman even once. Newton has no more claim to it than any of the long line of athletes who have made references in fun.

i have heard "SuperCam" a lot though even by commentators

If you think that Luke Kuechly is more deserving and well known for Clark kent than Smith is for Superman, I can not continue this conversation with you any longer.

I have no idea why you're trying so hard to prove a point and misguide what I said by saying "we have three supermen on our team alone", but it really isn't worth my time, nor is it amusing to other users to watch us go back forwards.

I've seen the media refer to Kuechly as "Carolina's Superman on Defense" or us point out Kuechly's resemblance to Kent a lot more than I have Smith.

It isn't about what one deserves or else then Newton doesn't deserve Superman more than Aaron Rodgers does.  I'm not spinning anything you are saying.  I never once did that.  You simply jumped on my case because I said what is true - Smith's moniker has never truly been Superman.  He's rarely been referred to as that and it has always been sporadic.  Thus, no, I do not think we have 3 guys on our team currently called Superman.  Especially not right now considering when someone says, "Big Play by Carolina's Superman," Smith does not pop up on anybody's mind.  That is all I've been saying.  I don't see how I have been misguiding what you are saying.

It's a ridiculous disagreement, sure.  But I'm a stubborn guy.  And you were the one who said twice now you were done; I assumed you just wouldn't respond.

Stop trying to speak for everyone lol. You are the only dude that didn't know what I was talking about. I'm sorry you have never heard smith be referred to as superman, but he has been, and my whole point was that we have three guys that have been called that. Not "Smitty is our superman and everyone knows it". Maybe you watch more games these days than you did back in smiths prime, hence the "cam era" comment.

Stop being stubborn and move on, you learned something knew today.

Go ahead and take the last word though if that makes you feel like a big boy.

I always thought Steve Smith and superman was common knowledge.  My wife first comments after watching Cam do his Superman celebration:

"I thought Steve Smith was superman?"

I never would have thought that there would have been so many pages debating if Steve Smith and Superman was ever referenced together.
