You use schedule to justify why you think we will win or lose this season.  What you should be doing is going down the rosters of the teams we are playing and seeing what they added and what they lost to give yourself a better determination on who is tough.  Not last season record. 

 

ummm......this is exactly what I am doing and what my previous post was.  You give us 3-3 in the Division....which is going to be tough, but doable.  I would argue that all of the teams in our Division have gotten tougher.  

 

Then let's look at all the teams who have gotten better:  Seattle, San Fran, Miami, Minnesota.  

 

New England and NY Giants, while they may have not gotten better, are still no slouch.  

 

So that gives us six teams on our schedule that are very difficult match-ups and/or who have improved their rosters from last year.  We have to go no worse than .500 in those games to just have a shot at the playoffs and 10 wins is still no guarantee.  

 

Still trying to figure out who that's irrelevant.

Those were more than making a play for a win.  Those were absolutely unlucky fluke plays that all went against us.

 

But, my point is still valid.  This team is talented and very close to the playoffs.  They are not a talent depleted team who is lucky to win 6-7 games.

Not once have you mentioned the other rosters.  You mentioned Strength of Schedule.  SOS is based on last year.   Please don't chance your direction and then imply my opinion is irrelevant.

 

Your point, I think, that you are trying to make, is all these teams got better and we didn't?  While these teams may have added Big Names and did well in the draft. I am saying we did just as well in adding players that will make our Top 10 defense better and our 12th ranked offense (should have been higher had we not had a OC with his head up his arse, but that is a different topic) better.

 

There is no guarantee any will be better then the other. Adding a big name free agent doesn't mean they got better.   Other teams dump these players for a reason.  Just like we did with Gamble.  Not worth the money we are paying them so we dump em.  Free agents are flawed in a sense.  Adding the big name doesn't mean squat to me. 

 

My point is,  I believe we added players to our roster that will contribute just as much as any player OTHER teams have added to theirs. 

 

So SOS means nothing... What others have added do.  It just an opinion whether they will make the splash that they are hoping for. 

 

If Rivera has his poo together then there isn't one team out there, with the players we have added, that we cannot beat. NOT ONE.

If you're going to call me out on specifics....I never once mentioned strength of schedule.  I mentioned the schedule being brutal (which means any and all of the following:  our tough Division, playing NFC West, Giants game, playing the Saints 2 times in 3 weeks, at Minnesota, having an early bye, playing New England and SF off of their bye, one home game in October, etc...).  All of these factors make the schedule tough. It's not as simple as examining roster vs roster on paper, as you are saying.  And a tough schedule is most definitely a factor when someone was saying earlier that we're a lock for the playoffs...which is what that comment was in response to.  I think we can definitely be a playoff team and even win our Division.  But we're not a LOCK.  We haven't proven we can win games that matter, win early, execute in the clutch, or beat playoff teams.  Until we do those things (please God let it be this year) we are far from a lock.

And you never mention rosters till just now.

 

You mention NFC West, don't mention that the NFC West has to play against themselves.  At Minnesota OK So?  We just stocked up on players to stop the run. Ponder doesn't scare me.  You mention our division and then New Orleans... did I miss something and New Orleans is in a different division.  PLUS we beat them last year TWICE.    You mention us getting SF and NE off their bye but don't mention we get Atlanta with 10 days to prepare.  Tell me, are we the only ones who have this to deal with these occurrences?  Is the NFL setting us up?  Making it hard on the LOWLY PANTHERS to dig out of the cellar?  

 

Schedule is always tough.  I wonder if Rivera is going we basically have three weeks to prepare for Minnesota.  Arizona is a perennial cellar dweller.    Hell NO.  He game plans and prepares like any other team.    Most teams that have a bye.. Use it for a bye.  Players rest and take time off.  Most teams don't practice through the bye in preparation for their next opponent.  Coaches might but the players don't.  Only advantage REST for the players.  Disadvantage could lose some sharpness.

 

Obviously you are far more worried about who we play instead of playing well than I am.  If the Panthers play to their potential.  We will be a dangerous team.  Home or away.  PERIOD.

 

I believe we have addressed our needs well.  I believe with the front seven we now have, our young secondary will thrive and succeed.  Our offense will be balanced and we will be a team to be concerned about.  

 

Go ahead and stress yourself out over the schedule.  I will focus more on seeing how well we play.

You should really go back and actually read the post I've made so you can stop calling me out on things I did and didn't say since you're obviously missing it.  

 

1) I did mention that the NFC West gets to play one another.....but I listed that as an advantage to a bubble team getting to play the Rams and Cardinals vs the difficulty of having to play against the NFC South.  Translation = one Wild Card team is probably coming from this Division.

 

2) I mentioned playing New Orleans twice in three weeks.  Read more closely, buddy, and it will make more sense.  And if you're saying we're going to have our way with New Orleans because of what we did to them last year then 1) you're contradicting your logic from your previous post and 2) you're foolish.  Is Tampa going to have their way with us because they swept us last year?  

 

3) Not sure what your rant about the league making it hard on us is about.  Are those your words?  

 

You're having a hard time getting my point.  It's simple....WE ARE NOT A LOCK TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS.  That's it.  And the brutal schedule is only one piece to that equation

 

The way I look at it.....at best we win the Division....at worst we are fighting some pretty good teams for the last Wild Card Spot.  I love our chances as much as anyone, but even YOU say "IF the Panthers play to their potential".  Yes, IF.  So keep smoking that stuff and pounding your chest and saying we're going 16-0.  I'm still going to take the cautiously optimistic and wait-and-see approach while I hope we play to our potential.  But until we show we can I won't say we're a playoff lock.  

 

Vegas has us at 7 wins.  I'm expecting you to put your life savings on the over with your confidence.

Jammer, 34, was among the leagues worst cornerbacks in coverage last season, and had only been connected to the Redskins as a potential stop-gap safety leading up to the draft. It's unclear if Denver plans to use Jammer at cornerback or safety, but he was listed as a "defensive back" in the official team release. He'll be no more than roster depth at this point in his career.
