Matt Ryan and Ben Roethlisberger both belong in the "all overrated" team, though Tony Romo is the champion of that front.  I'm also in the camp that says Joe Flacco is overrated, but given his playoff performance you'd probably have to rank him ahead of Newton (for now).

He has been a little banged up and has had some shaky games as of late, but he has still led his team to the mountaintop. He is not in the same class as Ryan and Romo due to that fact alone.

In both the Seahawks win and the loss to the Packers, he was borderline terrible. He won the first one as much as anything because Hasselbeck was worse (Seahawk fans would also cite a horrible ref call in that one).

The Steelers in the past have been good enough overall to absorb poor performance on his part. I'm not sure that's true anymore.

Come on, Scot. You know that it's not just about the Super Bowl. Roethlisberger had to put them in the position to get there. He arguably did more than his fair share. He has done some amazing things. Yes, he was a little shaky this past season, but no one is perfect. You are letting your hate show.

 

Considering the Steelers' draft, I wouldn't be so quick to throw dirt on them. One more draft like they had this past draft (really like they usually have), and they will be back atop the NFL---not saying that they won't be in the mix this year. Roethlisberger will most certainly be the key part in that equation.

Luck, Griffin, Wilson and to a certain degree Kaepernick all fall under the "still don't really know what we've got there" category. Ranking them this high essentially means you believe the hype.  I'd say it'll still be at least a year - maybe two - before we really know how good these guys are (or aren't).

 

I think the biggest overreach is below Cam though.  Tony Romo should be in the twenties, late teens at the most.

 

Who are the 20 QBs currently better than Romo?

I don't see how you rate RG3 that high and ignore the fact that Kirk Cousins came in and won the game against Baltimore and a key win against a hot Browns team.

As of now, Cam should be ahead of Luck, RG, Wilson, and Kaep. Three of those four are so terribly overrated at this point, Wilson being the exception, that it is hard to believe that they haven't already inducted them into the Hall of Fame. 

 

• RGIII showed solid potential, but the injuries and the seeming lack of pure leadership hinders him. I don't want to say anything else about my personal thoughts behind RGIII because I like him, but I'm critical of him. He's not as good as most people think he is, and he was not the best rookie of last season. Not at all.

 

• Luck threw probably half a million picks last year. Only Romo & Brees threw more, but both of them threw for more attempts and a much higher QBR (Luck's was a 76.5). Blaine Gabbert had a higher QBR than Luck. As did Christian Ponder by 5, Ryan Fitzpatrick by 7, Cam Newton and Kevin Kolb by 10, Nick Foles by 3, Russel Wilson by 24, and Alex Smith by 28. Luck is so overrated, it's annoying. One plus is his natural leadership skills, but Jake Delhomme made a career out of that, and we all know how he ended up. Definitely not a future HOFer or a former #1 overall pick. Luck could be great, but he has no better chance than any of Cam, RGIII, Kaep, Wilson, or even someone like Ryan Tannehill or Jake Locker.

 

• Kaepernick has probably started less games in his career than Ryan Leaf has won (I actually just looked up how many games Ryan Leaf has won as a starter, and it's only 4. So that is invalid, but still...) Again, he showed potential and he "took" his team to the Super Bowl (having one of, if not the greatest defenses of the past decade carried the team moreso than he did), so it's hard to say he sucks. But you do have to consider that he has started a grand total of 7 games in his career, as compared to Cam's 32. You can't say he's better.

 

• And than we have my main man Russ Wilson, who I genuinely thought was the best QB in last year's draft BEFORE the draft happened. I still stand by that statement. He could easily overtake Cam this year, but he's not there yet. He has a fantastic defense and Beastmode Lynch to rely on. It'll be fun to see what he can do with an actual offensive receiving threat in Percy Harvin this year.

I couldn't agree anymore with what YOU (or who ever wrote this) said about RG3, Luck, Kaepernick, and Wilson. 

 

RG3 and Luck, are both terribly overrated (especially RG3). Luck is good. He's just not as good as they tell us, and media consistently overlooked his mistakes and Lucky team breaks--contributing to those 'comeback' wins against bad teams. Even Kaepernick (who plays on a great team that even made career loser--Alex Smith put up numbers like a Probowler), and Wilson (who you already addressed), were given too much credit for their teams success, though both certainly have their attributes. 

 

Wilson appears to have the best poise in the pocket out of that group (though he was still brought along slowly, and eased into his role as the season progressed). I like him. Luck is a rough second in the pocket. I'm still not convinced that RG3 and Kaepernick, are solid pocket passers, who can read defenses and make good decisions. At this stage, they are both very system dependent, it appears  (Yes, so was Wilson. However, he showed poise when receivers were covered, and plays broke down, especially in the playoffs). So you gotta give him that. 

 

If you take away the threat of the run, and/or their run support, can these guys--RG3 and Kaepernick--complete a pass where they have to buy time behind the line of scrimmage, or look off receivers? The 2012 NFL season said no! Neither one of them are legitimate pocket passers, despite their lofty stats, media love fest and QB ratings.  We'll see for 2013?

I am sick to death of people trashing our QB...Cam has had THE best rookie season ever and re-invented the position...noway are Wilson and RG3 better than CAM! DAMN! stand up for your man...superman that is...they are so jealous we have him and I can't wait to win the Superbowl...I bet we still won't get gear in the NFL SHOP!

I like Wilson as well. My 49er bud hates when I bring him up. Always talking about how Flynn was suppose to play vs the panthers (benching Wilson) last year but an injury kept him out. Wilson has since become the leader I hope Cam turns into
