That sux dude. Heart worm treatment has come a long way. I remember when it was fatal. Dogs recover from it very well as of late.

Yeah, I hated having to leave him this morning he was scared to death. He's the sweetest dog.

She said we just have to keep him kind of subdued for the next month while the medicine kills the worms, apparently they are susceptible to embolisms and clots while the worms die. He's pretty rowdy with the other male dog, that could be a challenge...

Could crate him in another part of the house. Then switch, crate the other while he's out for a bit.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure while we're not around they're pretty sedate... but they do get riled up when we come home. He likes to wrestle with the other male and also romp in the back yard, so that will have to stop for now.

GF's dog went through that last year. Hardest part was trying to keep him subdued for so long since he is an outdoor dog with a huge pen that he runs in all day. He winded up living in the garage. He was really coughing up lots of stuff and blood and there were days we didn't think he would make it but he is better than ever today.

Unfortunately her other dog just got tested and he has them as well. There is no way he would stay calm for a month. He is only a couple years old he can't sit still for 1 minute. She elected to just put him on preventive to stop them from reproducing and let the worms that are in there die naturally. Vet said that should be fine since he is so young that his heart can take it. All that medicine sure can get pricey.

Oh, and congrats on the new pup!
