anyone quoting PFT...esp. making a thread based on something they read there...should know that they fling poo on a regular basis. they either talk out of their asses, take things out of context, or spin things to make it seem like a bigger deal than it is.

Smitty is an aspiring sports radio host that is on WFNZ about twice a week. This is not the first time he's given his opinion on other players in the league. Many people will still look at him as an active player who loves to criticize others

I like Smith but due to his anger issues he's never been mistaken (except by the clueless) for "one of the nicer guys in the NFL".

 

I'd agree that his statement was taken out of context. I can say from experience that there's a good chance of that anytime you talk to the media.

Gotta love how the media takes things out of context. Reminds me of when my wife was interviewed in a baby store 12 or so years ago. They wanted her opinion on the recent recalls of the cribs at the time. She replied that the cribs out today must be a lot safer than those we used as children. We do our homework, and then we get what we get and not worry to much about it anymore. When we saw the news that night, I couldn't stop laughing. It had the reporter ask the question, and my wife's response in her southern accent...."we get what we get." That was it!

 

I've never trusted the media since then, although I still use the quote in front of her whenever she does something stupid.

The context was something along these lines:

 

Marc & Taylor (the hosts) were ranking the QBs in the NFL. They were talking Luck, RGIII, Kapernick and Wilson and how they are all so "great" because they lead their teams to the playoffs. Smitty (and maybe one of the hosts) were saying that even though Cam hasn't been to the playoffs that he is better/should be ranked higher than those guys. Someone mentioned that a few years ago everyone was singing the praises of Mark Sanchez because he went to back-to-back AFC Championship games. (By this point Smitty was getting pretty riled up) it is at this point that Smitty made the comment that now he wouldn't let Sanchez through "him a paper bag sandwich."

 

The comment was a lot more about defending Cam and his abilities as a pro than it was about degrading Sanchez.

While he could have been defending cam, he still said the comment, and meant what he said. Everybody is screaming out-of-context but this is one of the lesser "taken out-of-context" compared to the norm.
