Gettlemen continues to get criticism for not bringing in a WR

This draft was actually very Marty like. I wasnt trying to compare the two but lets not act like Marty didn't just draft Cam and Luke the anchors of our team. You can say what you want about Hurney and his contacts but the foundation of this team was anchored by Marty Hurney like it our not.

I'm not sure you watched the same draft I did

For example, there was this part where a team called us and offered their second rounder for our 2014 first. Gettleman's response was to not return the guy's call. Laughing about the offer later, he said the guy making the offer must have had "brain damage".

Our previous GM took just such an offer on more than one occasion.

We went from trusting final decisions on our draft picks to a guy who'd never even worked as a scout to a guy with 30 years experience as a talent evaluator. Any suggestion that the "Panther model" hasn't changed is a pretty big stretch.

No they also look different because different coaches and different scouts view players differently. While some may say hey this guy fits our defense better than this guy. This WR would do well in our system over this guy.

Some may say, hey this guy has the motor to mask his deficiencies and rank him higher than another guy who maybe has better physical tools.

BPA factors in need for the obvious picks not to take.

We wouldn't have taken Kwann in the second if we were using BPA by need.

Like I said, from the horses mouth...Gettlemen already said there where others on our horizontal board. He picked DT bc he wanted DT. Wasn't just BPA....if it was then there wouldn't of been anyone horizontally on the board at our pick.

Didn't like the double down....especially when the GM said other guys where on our board. Too many needs in Carolina and I would have preferred he tried to address more areas

Incorrect. FA WR is a possiblity next year and the year after. Cam will be here for 10+ more years, mark my words.

Next year yes it's always next year. Next year we will find our WR. You guys want to find Smittys replacement I want to move him to the slot and extend his career. O yea and talk to a Cavs fan.

Cam said he wants to be an entertainer and icon. Everything he has done off the field backs this up. I don't find anything wrong with it but just like Lebron knew he couldn't do it by himself so does Cam. He's a smart man.

He wants to win, period. Like I said Star will help this team win more next year, than Hopkins will, imo.  The defense getting better, helps the offense. I don't know how that is hard to understand. You don't look at it from two halfs. You look at it from a whole piece, the team. We have time to make this team better every single year.

Never said it hasn't but it's funny how people here were joking about us taking a lb and rb like Hurney always did. Then suddenly we take a rb and lb and Gettleman is a genius for it. Hurney doubled down on two DTs so did Gettleman. Hurney took a division two guard so did Gettleman. We were watching the same draft someone just forgot to take off their homer glasses.

Who cares that he rejected a trade offer. I'd much rather our GM try to make something happen then to pack it up and watch the 3rd round from the hotel room. Especially with Keenan Allen still on the board. Ricky Proehl damn near adopted the kid and I don't think he would have spent so much time with him if he didn't think he could play.

Beason still has the skill to be an effective outside linebacker. And for whatever you think of him, can you honestly give me the name of a backup LB on the roster who's just as good?

And yeah, there's the risk of losing him to injury. With Britt, there's also the risk of injury added in to the risk he'll do something stupid and get suspended. That happens and you've downgraded two positions.

Not a risk I wanna see us take.

We have to risk something in order to get a viable no.1 WR in here

Oh and by the way AceB.

Before you go praising Hurney for supposed "anchor" picks (Cam and Luke = no brainers, call it what it is) let's not get selective memory now and forget the many many many mind numbing awful picks and trading of future picks he made that have set this franchise back for years. Look back as recent as the 2011 draft.

Also we cannot go without mentioning that Marty never drafted one standout WR during his tenure here.

except we took two dt's in the first two rounds and lb and rb in the last two rounds we picked. With looming cuts/contracts at respective positions.  And if you wanna see how a team is built for the future, watch what Gettleman is gonna do the next three years, unless he lied. Which i doubt he did.  He has laid out the template for the future.

But you can be negative because he isn't building the team the way you want and keep saying Cam is gonna leave like Lebron did because we are not surrounding him with talent, but we have been. You just see it as one dimensional instead of every aspect that makes a football team a successful team.

But this is where it ends for me, so have fun.

how many times have an organization been successful with double dipping at 1 position with back to back picks?as much as i think this team needs a WR, if they do double dip at WR next year is just a waste of a pick. i agree with ace because we trashed hurney for drafting a RB or LB every draft but give Gettleman praise for the same move.

Or a DT for that matter.

Uhh Gettleman has only had one draft so far for the huddle to severely prematurely judge him on.

You say team but the teams only interest seems to be build the defense. Since drafting Cam Newton we have spent two picks on Wrs.

Kealoha Pilares and Joe Adams. Yep that's building around your franchise player.

Hell they did more trying to build around Jimmy by drafting Lafell, Gettis and Armanti the same year they drafted him.

You do that for Jimmy but you draft Pilares and Adams for Cam man I don't get it.

Steve Smith is 34 at the end of his career.

Lafell is a #3 on a good team

Hixon is a one year rental

Ginn is a one year experiment

Gettis is a question mark

Adams is a question mark

Armanti is a WTF

Pilares is a Huh?

Greg Olsen- he will make some catches and drop some but he isn't going to block anybody.

Why is that ok?
