Gettlemen continues to get criticism for not bringing in a WR

Is it possible that Smith would retire if we switched coaches....sure.

Has he said anything or done anything to indicate that he feels this way.....no.

Did he publically state that he intended to play several more seasons and had ZERO interest in going anywhere else....yes

Did he say that is was very important to his family to stay in Charlotte....yes.

So, please enlighten us with all of the "evidence" or "actions/comments" that would indicate he would leave. Again, you spout off nothing more than your opinion....and try to pass it off as fact.

I did already....

Again, look at what happened the last time we made a coaching change. All those things that came up then....factor in again.

Coaching change IMO would be potentially bad on many fronts. Which is why I am a Ron supporter

"Three weeks ago two of my friends and I went to a ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas, and took what Terence McKenna calls "a heroic dose." Five dried grams. Let me tell you, our third eye was squeegeed quite cleanly. Wow! And I'm glad they're against the law, 'cause you know what happened when I took 'em? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours, going "My God, I love everything."

CRA you gotta be trolling.

If I have to agree with MadHatter over you, then you're fugging up bad.

Trolling happens to be pointing out what already happened....is likely to occur again when if the same situation presents itself...AGAIN?

You guys are too busy looking at things from an "I love Steve and he loves us" persepctive.  Go back in time just a few years and look at what occured with Steve when he had to debate if his aging self wanted to be involved with a complete rebuild (which it wasn't....we didn't even rebuild really).   Look at other top tier players and what has occured in those moments at his age.

Glad you're here to clear up for me what actually constitutes trolling.

If Jimmy Clausen of all people was your possible future at quarterback and you were one of the top wide receivers in the league and ownership had just purged the roster of veteran talent how would you feel about it?

You're grasping at straws. Steve wants to be here.

NFL history shows....coaching change, means new QB.  So no, Clausen wasn't the future....just a dude taking up space until something happened.   We didn't purge the roster after 2010.

It isn't tough.  Yes, Steve wants to here.  Today.  No one argued differently.

NFL history shows the odds of Smith staying here go down and Cam's odds also diminish if Ron is fired.  That is the point.  New coach, means new system, new rules, new offense.....Steve isn't going to say whatever, doesn't matter, I am down for anything.

How many times are you going to reference a coaching change? That's your entire argument?

Newsflash: Training camp hasn't even occured yet and Rivera is still our head coach.

Like I said, grasping at straws.

I'm just gonna keep quoting hicks

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.”

this a do or die season for Rivera....that isn't grasping at straws.  This is a HUGE year us.  HUGE.

I have been on the Ron bandwagon and still am....more people should be on it than are IMO.  Again, that is the drum I bang.

But like many, some people here the name Steve Smith and freaking awesome isn't the first thing they hear...and they go defensive.  You want to Steve to slowly ride off in the sunset?  Best odds for that is for Rivera to stay.

Yes, there was much speculating two years ago. The future didn't seem so bright, and we were worried Smitty would leave.

That was Pre Cam. As long as Cam is our QB, and Smitty feels he can compete. They will be together.

Yes. There is always concern when a new coach comes in. HOWEVER, that does not automatically mean star players are in trouble.

Gettlemen has upgrade the roster. Rivera, defensively anywho, has more weapons to play with. He has an Offense that should be in the top half of the league. He ain't worried about his job. I am not sure why you are worried over events that could very well not happen.

Not that another top tier WR wouldn't help, but behind Olsen we're really lacking. Hartsock is old and isn't the answer. Hopefully Willams or Rosario pan out this year, but I see TE as a bigger red flag from a depth and numbers stand point.

This team just has several holes and not a lot of money to run after better FA talent. And it's not that Getts wouldn't gladly upgrade our team at those spots so we could draft a big WR (maybe he will) but there isn't enough money now or for the next couple of years

CRA - What would you have done differently in the draft and free agency given our Cap? It may have looked much different if Star would not have been there.I would be curious to see how Gettlemen had the prospects graded including Tavon Austin.
