Gettlemen continues to get criticism for not bringing in a WR

I really wanted a WR to be drafted in the 2nd round, but I like the double down on DT's. It should really take care of the position and solidify the line.

Bringing in Ginn and Hixon will make the WR corps better. But I am sure they are not franchise guys or anything, just journeymen. You have to realize that the guys on NFL network only see us as having Steve as the one legitimate threat at WR. Lafell is not a "threat," nor is anyone else not named Steve Smith. They also have nothing to say about any other WR, so the only thing they can fall back on when it comes to the topic of WR's is that we need one.

Next year we are literally have to draft a WR high or sign someone in FA that is a playmaker. This season the WR corps has been patched, again, but next year is the time to pull the trigger.

Well, actually Robert Woods is getting rave reviews so far up in Buffalo.  He probably won't be the only one.

You do realize that Robert Woods was gone by the time we picked in the 2nd round, right?

Or did you mean that you wanted to pick him in the 1st round over Lotulelei?

Or did you want to sacrifice more of the very few picks we had to move up and get him?

I've said this before and I'll continue to say it until I'm proven wrong, but I would have taken Hopkins with the 14th pick.

26 NFL general managers disagreed with  you.

Maybe you're rignt and they're wrong.

But, as of now, the evidence is heavily leaning their way, not yours.

That is a flawed statement. Maybe 31 GMs thought Star was a 2nd rounder. Maybe another team thought Hopkins was worthy of the 9 pick but picked at 5 with someone slightly ahead of him they drafted.

All 32 boards are different. We brought Hopkins in twice and considered several players at Stars spot.

I would be willing to bet Hopkins out performs our #2 this year....rookie vs vet. Hopkins is legit.

So you'd rather have a #2 WR than a starting, run-stuffing NT?

I see...

I'd like to build around Cam. Cam is the most important piece to our puzzle...but you have to water the flower for it to grow.

didn't like double down on one weakness....would have preferred to try to improve more in the draft.

I like Star. Not about not liking him. I like Cam more. With the right weapons....Cam signifantly can trump what Star can bring IMO

We brought him in twice...and considered several players. Reasonable to assume he was considered.

No way to know under what scenario they were considering him for.

I think we would've taken Tyler Eifert before anyone if we went offense with the pick.

Eifert and Hopkins where both the first of their position to be taken after we picked....and we know we looked hard at Hopkins.

Neither should be dismissed as laughable at 14

The big name free agent WRs weren't at all realistic for us. We didn't have near enough cap space and honestly even if we did I'm not sure I would have been happy outbidding the massive deals they got.

For draft value it looks like it was obviously better to go DT in those first two rounds (a position that was also a big need BTW). Though I would have preferred Patton in the 4th rather than the UDFA we took but anyone you get in the mid-late rounds isn't looked at as being a day 1 starter anyway. That difference wouldn't have made any real impact on this year.

I do wish we would have brought in a real #2 TE though. They obviously looked at it as a need seeing as Eifert would have been the pick had Star not been there. One of the free agent TEs could have been had at a reasonable deal. Dustin Keller signed a one year deal for I think 3-4 million and there were quality guys going for even cheaper than that. We definitely could have cleared enough space to make that kind of move.

Wasn't Hopkins projected to be there early in the second round? If it's me I would have considered him in a favorable trade down scenario, but if we're talking staying put at #14, I'd rather go with Eifert. Just my opinion.
