Worst position groups in the NFL

Yes, but then you need to do the same exact thing for each team and I think you would find that the rankings don't change much.

so it isn't unusual for a top 13 pass D......to allow opponents the best comp % in the NFL and a secondary that is almost dead last in INTs?

that isn't a top 13 pass D.....that is a D that just randomly falls in line to be 13th in yardage. IMO.   A 13 ranked pass D....doesn't have the Atl, Chi, Tampa meltdown occur all in one season IMO.

and they are the only squad to benefit from that in the NFL?

If you are going to add other variables into a ranking, you have to do it for every team.

Who said they were the only squad to benefit from it in the NFL and who said I wasn't applying it for every team?

The fact is our starting DBs are looking like Norman, Florence, Godfrey, and somebody.  That is weak.  Florence hasn't been good in a long time, Norman has proven nothing, Godfrey is wildly inconsistent and that somebody won't be any good in all likelyhood.  Our secondary is weak.  I don't see how people can act like it isn't.  It certainly is one of the weakest secondaries in the NFL.  Fortunately we have a terrific pass rush.

Also, can people stop using the fact we were 13th in yards allowed in the passing game as something impressive?  We only ranked that high because teams didn't pass on us much.  We were 32nd in CMP% on us, 18th in Y/A, 23rd in interceptions, and 23rd in QB Rating.  Our pass defense wasn't that good.  Pretty damn awful at times, actually.

Speculation is hard, because based on 2012 stats, teams have lost / gained new players so it is hard to say who is the "worst."

However, Saints / Bucs did struggle in 2012, although I think Bucs have gone above and beyond addressing that issue.

Eagles allowed less yards, but allowed 33 TD's to our 22, and got 8 INT's to our 11. Granted, LB's get picks too and drop in pass coverage, but the secondary takes most of the responsibility.

In contrast, the Redskins allowed more yards and TD's (31), but also came up with 21 INT's.

Here's a good stat. We allowed ( 5 ) 40+ pass plays. This is from NFL.com stats, and I don't know how they dictate this stat. I assume it does not include YAC or something like that. In contrast, Saints allowed 14, Eagles 11, Bucs 11.

Somehow we are tied with SF at #3 for number of 20+ pass plays (again, not sure how this is dictated) with 38. Pats had 74, Bucs had 69, Saints had 66.

Total yards is one indicator, however there is 1 yard separating us from Detroit in the 13th and 14th slot. Rams are ~30 yards away from Detroit.

These are just stats, but in a few key areas we are definitely better than other teams on the back end, IMO.

seriously, no one ever talks about him. I am hopeful he will have an impact. Gettleman sounded happy with the acquisition in a news conference I remember.

probably b/c he is a nickel CB....the one position in the secondary we already have someone solid at.  Hate Captain if you want...but the kid is a solid nickel CB.
