Worst position groups in the NFL

Well, you can assume that our D-line won't be one of the worst (how could it with CJ and Hardy, and the additions in the draft), or the LB corps, being one of the best with Keek and healthy Beason/Davis (with added depth in FA and draft), which leaves the secondary as the only question mark.

I think it is safe to say that Captain and Godfrey are the strengths here. And we brought in guys in FA, one of which has 10 int's in three years (DJ Moore, Bears). Drayton Florence is probably not someone to rely on, but he is experienced with 10 years in. Josh Norman is a guy, and Lester is a long shot. Looking at CB's and Safetys individually, they may be some of the worst in the league when it comes to depth, but I feel like as a secondary unit they are not the worst at all.

who do you think is worse on paper in the secondary than us

Never fear.....Captain Pessimism is on the scene.

pessimistic....would be saying stud player likely enters a sophomore slump.

calling crap, crap...isn't being pessimistic.  Calling someone out for saying Jimmy Clausen is going to light it up in preseason and we can then trade him for something totally awesome....isn't being pessimistic.

I like it when you have an opinion in your head then go and seek out a way to display stats to support it.

I much prefer big picture stuff.

We ranked 13th in total pass defense. The Bucs and Saints ranked dead last. Therefore, they should be on the list before we are.

What does this mean? Weak on paper but not on gameday?

I think I am fine with that.

Weak on gameday too.  It just doesn't show because they get ample help from the pass rush.

And I was under the belief everything was being ranked at this point in how they'll do in 2013, hence why I said on paper.  But either one works fine for me.

I'm an optimistic.  I think we will do a lot better than people think.  But people are fooling themselves if they aren't concerned with our secondary or think TB should be lower.

and they are the only squad to benefit from that in the NFL?

If you are going to add other variables into a ranking, you have to do it for every team.

they were weak on both last year.

rankings based on yardage allowed....rarely paints a picture of what actually goes down.  maybe for a select few but not most.

Yes, but then you need to do the same exact thing for each team and I think you would find that the rankings don't change much.
