Panthers won't cut Armanti Edwards anytime soon

those crumbs seem a bit depressing. I really want Gettis to show up but  man like the Fox/AE situation, we may have the same with RR/Gettis. The rest of those guys are not impact players so realistically those signings are whack. of the tree, Bryant has the most potential but will he get the opportunities that others had?

With a new GM, I'd expect everyone to have clean slates and get equal opportunities.  The thing with Gettis is that he's done nothing since his rookie season and virtually everyone who was a part of that season within the organization is gone.  It's put up or shut up time for him for sure.  No more free roster rides at this point.  Either he's on the field and producing or he's gone and at this point, that's the way it should be.

He's been rotting away on the bench for too long.

John Fox also made no confusion about him absolutely not liking the pick or giving him playing time.

I agree. Nice guys usually get left out in the end. it is just that naturally. he has great character and I know how "Panther People" feel about clean noses. But the reality is attitude is very necessary. that defines SWAG, not being willing to slice and serve the pie to everyone before yourself. I think he needs to go somewhere and regain his comfort in playing. You can't be stiff. Lord only know what his TD celebration "would be".........

I base my judgements out of reality, not fandom, even though I am of fan of players. I wouldn't have played him either when Fox was here, he didn't know what the fug he was doing at reciever. The thing that is bewildering about him is he did have that SWAG in college. I saw him take on 230 lb middle linebackers. Jump over DB's for the TD.  Obviously the level of competition is completely different in the NFL. I think he is out of his depth and I think he is overwhelmed. He has been given 3 years to try and improve, but I haven't seen any indication that he has gotten better to the point that he makes the team.  That play against the redskins when the punter stopped him, I knew it was over. Because that is not the Armanti I saw in college.

It sucks because I'm a huge fan of his for obvious reasons; Hard-worker, great person and dad, finished classes in 3 and half years, always did the right thing, was nice to everyone on campus and he was so much fun to watch all of those Saturdays.  But it is obvious he doesn't have what it takes, whether it be mental or physical.

Well any huddler with a lick of common sense knows this much.

Though if both Armanti and Jimmy make the final roster, I will be sick.

dont over evaluate the average IQ of people on the huddle, I've found it best to assume everyone is a drool dribbling idiot until they prove otherwise.

I watched him in college, he never had breakaway speed. He was shifty as hell and could adequately outrun 1-AA defenders.

Just seems like he didn't have that second gear that would make him a game breaker.

I figured that he did when we drafted him....guess not.

IF he would have out ran the safety on that play then maybe there would have been some hope/reason to keep him as the 6th receiver since he's such a hard worker. But the fact he couldn't even out run the safety when he was wide open says theres no point in keeping him around. Its not like he does anything else well. He might be the nicest guy in the world and thats nice to hear but like the old saying goes nice guys finish last.

I know its been said but its too bad he was drafted how he was and was given these unfair expectations on him.

Yep, we just never saw the dazzle that he showed at App State.  He seems to have good initial burst, but the top end speed of a blocking TE.

It was the Punter. And that's the whole point. The player Armanti was in college would have juked that dude out of his fuging pants. And at the very least would have tried to make a play, but he didn't. And that's why he's gonna get cut before the season starts.  We need playmakers, not people afraid to make plays.

It sucks, but that's how it goes sometimes.

i can see us going into TC with maybe 15 WRs on the roster and just let 10 of them battle it out for the two remaining spots after smitty, lafell, hixon, ginn, and adams.

Ya unless Adams comes into camp and drops everything i cant imagine them giving up on him already. If we keep adams, IMO theres not alot of need for Pilares with Ginn on the roster as well. I think we would be better off taking two of the bigger guys, Gettis, Hills or Bryant.

I know this is overdone, but to prove my point about him playing scared just look at the first minute of this highlight video. This WAS how Armanti played, regardless if he was a QB or WR, he needed to try and make plays, he didn't.

i watched his entire career at app state and i don't think i've ever seen a quarterback who was less afraid of contact than him.  he was fearless even against michigan and LSU and took some nasty hits in both games.

he just seems different in the NFL.  like he loses his concentration when he's trying to make catches in traffic and balls seem to get away from him.  he's clearly not a natural receiver and he isn't big or fast enough to make up for it with hard work.
