Two 2014 Recievers not named Lee or Watkins

Recommended Posts

Same here lol I hate FSU but that Benjamin kid could be a potential first rounder. He's got to learn to use his body better but that can easily be corrected. Greene looks attractive as well.

The U fan in me is disgusted at myself for saying that. I guess this is how Gamecock fans in here felt when we were anticipating Newton to be our pick lol

heck yeah. both guys might stay because of Jameis, but Greene is a big play waiting to happen while Benjamin is a huge target with decent speed. i have seen some noles fans say that if Benjamin has a decent year, he would leave.would love to have a large target like that on this team.

Evans is the guy more people need to be aware of, IMO. Could be a top fifteen selection. Big, strong, athletic and sure-handed, everything you want in a receiver.

Honestly Evans is my hand-picked replacement for Lafell. We need a big target for Cam that will absolutely destroy man coverage. With Smitty and Olsen knowing how to find soft spots in zone, and Ginn to blow the top off coverages we could have a very dangerous offense.

If not him, I would like to see us give Denario Alexander a shot in training camp. Of course he's coming off of another injury, but giving him a show-me contract with little to no guarantees would be a win for everyone involved.

Hoffman looks good, but issues meant he is projected to the 4th or 5th by many. I think he offers a similar mid-round steal to Mike Davis from Texas. Davis has more upside but Hoffman is a safer bet. I think Matthews is a very good receiver but I think he may well go too high as he is getting a lot of hype. If we take either Evans or Watkins in the 1st, depending on whether we get a big outside receiver via a trade or FA, then we can grab either Davis or Hoffman later-on. In addition to our current group and some better O-Linesmen that would give us a top-5 O in addition to our top-3 D.

Completely agree, Evans has to be our top target in the draft. Another slot receiver such as Mike Davis in the middle rounds wouldn't hurt either.

I've just had a look at what game-tape I could find for Greene. My major concern would be the limited time he faces press coverage. This, and route running, are normally the biggest reasons WRs fail in the NFL. His route running seems ok, but he does seem to run an extraordinary number of 9-yard curls. I think he would be a solid WR but I don't think he has a huge amount of upside. If he's there in the later rounds (6 or 7) or as a UDFA then it is definitely worth a shot. But players like Mike Davis will likely still be there in the 4th.

Similar to Greene in many ways, just possesses more upside. Would work well as a slot receiver at the next level.

Evans should be the replacement for Smitty in the long run. Anyone could replace LaFail easily.

Evans has to be an upgrade for Lafell, we will need another receiver to replace Smith. As we have showed over the past few years, having just one top receiver doesn't do that much, we really need two. What do you think about maybe going after Amari Cooper in the 1st round of 2015. That will likely be the first draft after Smith retires. His draft stock is falling because of a foot injury and it won't be helped next year with a new QB.

I would love, I mean Cam would love having Evans and Cooper to throw to. That would be incredible!

If by then we're in a position to trade up for Amari, I'm all in. I know he's having a bad season this year, but I still believe that Cooper is the real deal.

I think Greene upside is higher because of his speed and Yac ability. I do not think Davis is as fast or quick twitched as Greene. Greene does run more then curls, I have seen him score on post, outs, and slants numerous times. I do wonder how he will handle press man, because he hardly sees this coverage because of his deep speed. He can be a body catcher at times, but is very willing to go over the middle.

I know this thread is not about Watkins, but his route running is some of the best that I have seen in a while and hardly gets mentioned. He understands the stems and how to break DBs down getting in out of his breaks with speed and confidence. He changes speed really well, and doesn't show the route before he breaks.

Brandon Coleman has disappeared in the games I have seen this year. he started out hot, but has been mia as of lately. some could be because of QB play, but still.

It's mostly QB play, just like Lee when he's been out there. My biggest concern with Coleman is does he have the vertical speed to stretch a defense.
