Another very knowledgable article from NFL.com

They had a 1000+ yard rusher

Yes and we  have 2 backs that can have 1000 + yds a fullback and QB that can run......  I think going back to traditional running game will help the offense tremendously......our running game is the foundation for the offense we get it back and our offense will be top 10..............  I'm happy with the WR corp we have, we just need to find another TE that can help Olsen out

On the surface, this may be true. But... If Lafell, Hixon, or anyone, for that matter, has a good year. They very well could be resigned. So, a long term player could be on our roster already.

You can make the case that if one has a breakout year then the league will notice and some team will throw some money at them. Money we don't have. The long term WR situation is real murky right now and that's not good. Right now is our WR corps good enough? Yes I truly believe it is. It's the future that worries me

bring on the hate baby.  fug the "panthers darkhorse superbowl contenders this year" crap.  truth is we may not have enough to get it done this year, but i think we are going to see real value in who we've brought in and keep building our already bright future.

the video associated with that article isnt so bad.  the guys at least did their homework and dropped some lesser known names.

Name a WR under contract past this season not named Steve Smith...that's if he continues to want to play.

Our WR corps is full of one year rentals no long term WR for our qb.

Lafell will be on this team a long time barring injury or absurd contract demands.  He will never be an elite gamechanging receiver that we are all oozing in our pants over, but he is a very solid player.  Great blocker, good hands, a wee bit faster than he seems.  Obviously lacks elite speed and isn't as good as you'd expect on jump balls.

The question is. Did we upgrade at all at the WR position? I believe the answer is yes. Cam was about a buck fifty shy of 4000 yds for the second season.

Smitty has help. This is the year they really step up.

I have notice the really no name writers are the ones running their mouth. They see 34 yr old Smitty as a number not that he is still a valid #1 receiver. No need to panic. Our corps of WR will be good enough.
