AJ Klein saying all the right things

Recommended Posts

Steal.  kinda like Alexander out of the B12...he's immediate lb depth and st starer.....could be the perfect

replacement if an injury pops up among our lbs.

great freaking pick where we got him...great freaking pick.

I think he'll be a Panther for 10 years.  fantastic value.  and a great example of BPA in a later round.

Two things I wonder. One, how good is his golf game? And two, can he be as effective as his Co DPOY Alexander?

IMO, bulged up football players have a hard time with golf. If he can be strong and limber, sounds good for a 5th. Smart, INSTINCTFUL, and possibly smoother than most guys, can lead to a good football player.

If he works as hard as he appears to, no way this kid doesn't contribute at STs and LB. Depth, quality depth, is the backbone of your team. This kid adds to that, and more.

Okay, enough happy, AJ would have to fug up not to make the team. Who is he up against? Senn? Competition at back-up LBer is pretty weak.

Gett Dawg did what he said he would do: Take BPA. Klein was massive value as a fifth rounder, and the type of player the Panthers want to keep around.

TD-Keek-Beast

Then below them: Blackburn, Klein, Senn

I am VERY comfortable with our LB corps right now. Any one of those guys, if called upon, would step up to the plate well. Gett Dawg is doing one HELL of a job with the team, guys. On paper, anyways. We'll see in a year or two if it's real or a paper tiger.

If Rivera is as good as I thought he was at spotting a LB after the Kuechly pick last season, I'm all kinds of giddy about how Klein turns out.

This and last season's draft class could turn out special.

Truth is that if he makes the team he was a good pick. Anything from the 5th round on is a bonus. It he contributes right away he will have been a great pick.

I think that it's pretty much a given that he makes the team (unless he can't play or is dumb as bricks---neither being likely, or the reality, really).  From watching YT video and reading some draft profiles, I can tell that Klein has some great instincts, and that's something that you desire in all your players but is impossible to teach. You can't teach instinct. So, Klein is almost a lock to make the team.  Assuming that he is a Panther in September, in my mind he instantly became a great pick in round 5. I don't think Klein being a great pick hinges upon an immediate contribution either. I think that him being defined a great pick has more with his ability to come in and make a quality contribution when called upon---whether due to injury or just plain spot duty. Moreover, I think that Klein being a great pick has more to do with his experience playing at all three positions---his versatility. Klein is the next man up behind Pro Bowl caliber type players with questionable legs.  Hopefully we won't need him right away (even on ST where he will most likely make an immediate or bonus contribution), but he is still a great pick. You get what I'm trying to say?
