I have to admit that gettis rookie season with lame qbs is more impressive than lafell paired with cam. I think gettis got in the doghouse with Rivera and couldn't get out.

When a new coaching regime comes in they don't really know what they have Besides the superstars and stars of the team. Gettis was dealt a bad hand and with injury it made it much worse. Gettis would and should have been starting without the injury. But I doubt he would have with Rivera here.

But either way I think the man should be given a chance with the first string players. It's not like he was playing 3rd stringers in his rookie season when he was pretty good. So don't say he looked good just bc he was up against 3rd stringers. Yes the talent does drop off. But these guys are professionals and its not like they are in wheel chairs.

I mean I'm sure cam would have looked just as bad against 3rd string tonight as he did against the starters. If u have talent it shows. Some days more than others but gettis is no scrub

37 rec, 508 yds, 3 tds

Lafail's stat with Cam Newton:

2011: 36 rec, 613 yds, 3 tds

2012: 44 rec, 677 yds, 4 tds

How similar

Look at Steve Smiths stats in 2010 and with Cam. Your post is ridiculous without taking attempts, completion%, total plays. I hope Gettis plays but I don't want it to be a Lafell v. Gettis thing just because they are different receivers. A good coach will figure out how to use that to his advantage.

Lafell has more experience and has held on to tough catches. All we've seen Gettis do thus far is catch in space. While he has had some snags I would like to see him take a hit like Steve does before declaring him future #1 , first ballot hall of famer. Hell most of you guys have already brought back the lafail moniker.

One question, who has more touchdowns this preseason? Your answer, Lafell while playing about 75% less. It's irrelevant but Gettis will not supplant Lafell, he seems like a nice compliment to Steve and Lafell though which can only help us.

 I respectfully disagree. I think he will make the team because although he playing against 2 and 3 teamers he is head and shoulders above them on the field which is why most would love to see how he plays against 1st teamers. To answer the question about who is better I can't give a true answer because the circumstances they play under isn't equal. I will say this it is a good problem to have (2 good young receivers) when we have been inept at this position outside of Smitty for a long time.
