How will Mike Shula change our offense?

The reason that Cam was the leading rusher had absolutely nothing to do with the talent at RB....it had to do with the play calling of Chud.

You don't think teams are afaid of DWill/Stew and Smitty/Olsen....then you have proven that your football knowledge is pretty limited.

I think opponents respect guys like Williams and Olsen.

Those guys don't strike fear in opponents like say Steve Smith in his prime.

OL was much better in 2010 than what we will line up week 1 in 2013LT

LT....Gross in 2010 and 2013

LG....Wharton vs Silotulu.  Like what I saw out of Amini in the 2nd half.  But, slight adv to 2010

Center...Kalil in 2010 and 2013

RG...Bernardeau vs Hangman/Kudzilla.  Bernadeau sucked.....might actually say Hang/Kud is better.

RT...Schwartz vs Bell.  Bell is better.

So, I would not say that the 2010 OL is better than what we will have Week 1.

My point is that this team DOES have ample weapons on offense.  If they are utilized properly, this will be an offense that is tough to gameplan for and stop.

They shoudl be able to hurt you with the running game....passing game....then add Cam's legs and it coudl be a nightmare.

lol delusional.  I am sure you will be the first one to start complaining if Newton/the offense fails to but up 35 points.

What team are going to fear is stopping the run with the 4 headed monster............OL will be back with Kalil returning from injury and Kugbila at RG ( I think he will start when season begins).......Shula and coaches are going back to traditional style offense and bringing back the Power run game (which i think is the foundation for our offense)........I think our Right side of the OL is going to be our strength and pave the way for the running game....which will open the passing game.....the only  thing i'm concerned about is the TE position that can compliment Olsen ...if  we can find a jewel from UDFA or pick up FA it will help the team in a lot of way

Where going to play Hard nose football on both side of the fields and wear the team down.....

To do much better than the god awful offensive product they had on the field? Hell yes.

His play calling was the #1 issue with the offense. Talent was a distant #2.

It was known as the run-run-pass-punt offense because that was exactly what happened 90% of the time. Columnists used to joke about it. Opposing  coordinators and players on more than one occasion called it a high school offense.

i swear with the hate that you have for Shula, he must have banged your wife or kicked your dog.....

or maybe banged your dog and kicked your wife.

I can't remember....I need another beer.

lol at hurting teams with our passing game...

I am not saying I necessarily disagree with the tack this organization has taken since Newton's arrival.

We are doing what the Giants did to a certain extent. And the opposite of what the Bengals are doing, which is fine.

HOWEVER, I don't want to see you in particular complain about Newton, and his unit not scoring at will.

You should be focusing on our defense being a top five unit and carrying us to the playoffs.

I would absolutely love to add another playmaking WR....and I think we do next year.

But, I did agree with the approach this offseason.  The defense (Dline in particular) was the biggest weakness and issue.  We addressed that.  And with only 5 picks, we had to focus our effort.

Our front 7 is set.  Next draft will focus on OT, WR, and DB.

Why is the Huddle focused on Newton and the offense?

When you draft Cam Newton and then in the proceeding draft do nothing to upgrade the offense that was horrid when Newton got here...it means you are banking on your defense to carry the load.

If the offense manages 20 points next year...I expect our talent rich, highly drafted defense to hold the opposing offenses to under that.

I know we will have to average at least 26 points per game to have a respectable season.  All the teams that  were averaging 26 points made the playoffs with the exception of New Orleans and the Giants. We averaged 22 points per game so yes I am worried about our offense..No team under about 23 points made the playoffs.

Shula is going to have to make changes to increase our points per game. One place we need to improve is we only scored 1.6 TD's from the red zone so either we are not getting to the red zone or we are not scoring when we get there.Atlanta scored 26,3 points per game but were scoring 2,2 TDs per game from the redzone. That almost covers our differential in points per game

Furthermore our passing attempts was 26th in the league and were around 20th in time of procession.

The bottom line is we were surviving on big plays and need to improve our short and intermediate passing game coupled with a successful running game.

My question is can Shula bring that to the table ? Has Gettlemen provided us with the talent necessary to score 26 points per game?

Overall, Carolina has been a good redzone team under Newton.

Issue is, we rarely get there in the 2nd half of games IMO

Don't get all pissy.

It is not our fault that 90% of the predictions you make on here have been wrong.

Be careful he may get this one right. My guess is Zod is judging him based on his body of work.Being Cams qb coach and being a play calling OC are require different skill sets.

Bottom line none of us know it is all speculation at this point

I think it's really hard to know how much of Shula's unsuccessful stint in Tampa was his fault when it came to the offensive philosophy of that team.   Was conservative offensive play calling for the Bucs purely Shula's fault? Who had more game planning influence?  Shula, Dungy, or both?
