Just so we know we aren't alone about Adam Schein being a sh*thead

Glad that Schein thinks we will suck this year.  Guys like Smith and Newton feed off of negative comments.  But there is a modicum of truth to his Newton comments in that Cam does need to show maturity this year and be a professional whether he is winning or losing.  He needs to pick up the team and instill confidence on the last drive in the last 2 minutes. One of the reasons Jake was so good at the end of the game was because players believed he could get it done and bring them back.  Cam has all the tools to be amazing but he does have to make sure his attitude remains positive.  Resiliency is a learned skill and something he has had to work through the past 2 years.

I hate Matty Lice but he did have a knack for amazing comebacks last year.  Otherwise they don't finish better than 8-8.  If we want to take the step into the playoffs. we have to be able to come back in the fourth quarter and win in the last 2 minutes.  Have we done it?  Yes. Have we done it consistently?  Look back to Seattle last year as your clue.

Just sayin..........

Yeah, Cam has to do a much better job of bringing us back after the defense continually blows the lead the team has at the beginning of the fouth quarter.  Look back at the Bucs game in November as concrete evidence.  With our defense getting better, we will win games.  I think it is insane how the other young QBs get credit for taking their teams to the playoffs when all of their teams needed was a competent player under center.

Professional troll.

Yup. They all are. I'd never really heard if Shein until 24 hours ago. I listened to Mac Attack driving to work this morning for about 20 mins and his name was all over the show. A lot if folks listen to Rush everyday because they hate him. People are still listening though!

Dont misinterpret what I said, I dont blame Newton for the late collapses by the defense last year. But playoff teams find a way to win and as the team leader he needs to inspire others and make them better. That is his role and he needs to embrace it whether he wants to or not.

We weren't a playoff team for a number of reasons.

I think Cams biggest problem since being drafted here has been that from the get go he felt as if he needed to shoulder the entire burden. He lead our team in rushing last year. Let's repeat that one more time. Our quarterback lead our offense in rushing for the season in 2012. Even Griffin had a 1,000 yard rusher last season, who was a rookie himself too. Cam is growing in a number of ways and I do believe that he is finally beginning to get it. He's only entering year 3 and his potential is limitless. That is to say if we let him actually be a QB and not the entire team. This coaching staff is currently the make or break factor for this franchise imo, not our quarterback.

The issues late in the game last season were more than just blown plays.  It was a mentality issue....by the defense, the offense, Cam, coaches....everyone.

When you continue to lose so many close games late (by a myriad of ways), it starts creeping into your head....oh no, here we go again.

That is what made Jake so great.  Down by 4....2 min left...80 yds to go....no problem.  That team had been there and done that many times before.  They all "expected" to make the big play and win the game.

I think the Saints game last year was a big turning point.  It got very close there at the end.  They could have said "oh no, not again" and folded.  But they didn't.  They all bucked up and closed out the game with big plays.

This entire team is growing up....they must not only "learn" how to close out games.  They must  get to the point that every member of the team "expects" it.

That time is now.....and this season is going to be fun.  I just feel it in my gut......................

Or else it is that 2 day old burrito I ate last night that I feel in my gut.

I'm glad I read all of the links and specifically that reddit link.  I was getting to the point that I was thinking maybe I'm just a complete homer and can't see that Cam just really isnt as good as I want him to be.  But now my homer boner just got a viagra injection right in the shaft.  Can't believe Saints Falcons and Bucs fans came to Cams support.

PS: Adam Schein is a tool bag.

If you've ever heard the guy on NFL radio you would know not to waste your time taking him seriously. For whatever reason he gets his kicks out of being a troll. When people get upset with him, he's sucessful in his eyes. Just ignore him.

I like to look at both sides of the spectrum so I know what you are saying. But when you look back at previous games, Cam is the real deal. Everything ran through him. And he masked deficiencies (oline/WR). RG3/Kaep/Wilson are great QB's already, but Cam is on another level. It's evident by the teams that all those QB's play for respectiviely. He reminds me of a mix of Bo Jackson and Dan Marino/Farve. There just hasn't ever been a QB with Cam's talents and physical makeup.

I don't say those words lightly. But at the same time the latter half of last season, he was more than just a gunslinger, he was heady. It really is astonishing a man of his size can do the things he can do running the football. It's unreal. This is what is so exciting about this guy, he has a ridiculous amount of tools to compete at a high level.  Reading fans opinon, especially fans of rival teams in our division just reaffirmed what I already knew.  That isn't homerism, that is fact.

I think that he is embracing it, as evidenced by the trends he has started with the TD ball giveaway.  Cam's issue last year came after trying to do exactly what the coaches said to do and then losing repeatedly.  He was not allowed to audible it or wing it at all unless the play broke down completely.  Have you not ever had a boss tell you to do something you know wouldn't work and then when it doesn't he let's the wolves have you?  Rivera and Chud did not come to Cam's aid till late in the season.  I think he handled himself well considering.

Cam is improving and growing as a player and a quarterback. But much of the reason he is not in the same class as Brees for example is that he doesn't have the ability to carry a team or come up consistently big in big games and win late. What is interesting is that he had that ability in college when he was better than the competition. Now that things have leveled out talent wise , he has struggled more. it is a mental thing more than a physical thing which he should work out with more experience.

I am one of newton's biggest fans, was one of the first to want him here, and wear his jersey to games. But lets be honest here, he does have things to work on and one of those is developing late game confidence to come in and drive the team down the field consistently. You develop that by doing it which he has not done that often to this point.
