Why Signing Jake Delhomme As QB Coach Is A Good Idea

 This would be a terrible idea. Lack of experience coaching aside, the last thing Cam needs is the former leader of this team breathing down his neck telling him how to run this team. Even if the advice/coaching were good, the fact that he is a former Panther quarterback makes it awkward as hell.

Jake was a good qb for us before his injury but I still see some of you still can't forgive him for the playoff vs the Cards.

Anyway having A QB Like Jake who has won playoff games and been to the superbowl would be a good teacher for Cam and Like I said he would make sure Cam kept his head high when things go tough aswell.

You can't teach being clutch.  Jake just had "it".  Cam...has yet to show anything that remotely resembles clutch.  Time will tell.

I like Jake Delhomme.  More specifically I like the memory of Jake Delhomme...I don't want him back.

 

I cannot think of a single reason this would be a good idea. The only attribute he would bring to the table is passion / visible leadership (which isn't even the most important kind).  Mechanically he wasn't that good and he made a lot of awful forced throws to a  younger Smitty where Smitty made him look way better than he had any business looking.  Adding to that we don't know if he'd even have any desire to coach OR if he'd be a good coach regardless?

 

Nothing about this says good idea.  Everything about this says "I love former players and I want them to be coaches"....and not all of them should be.

Cam should have quite a few game winning drives on his resume, but when the chips are down, the defense just couldn't hold most of the time.

 

Yet, Cam gets blamed for the loss when we get the ball back with hardly any time on the clock and he can't pull off the miracle.  Look, when you pull off a win like Atlanta did against us with Ryan to Roddy White or like Baltimore did in the AFC championship game with Flacco to Torrey Smith, that's more about the other team losing than the winning team winning.  Both were just pure blown coverages.  Yet, Flacco and Ryan were praised by the media to no end for those throws.  All they did was not fug up the sure thing.

I will add that a lot of Cams struggles in the 2 minute offense is Rivera being a complete boob in those situations.

 

He has no idea how/when to use Timeouts and completely missmanages games

I am not advocating the idea. However, he is a high school coach which is at least as much experience as Proehl had when everyone was clamoring for him. Many many big time coaches started in high school.

forget about those things, I mean, yeah that alone could dictate, but wouldnt you want a coach thats going to be even keel and laid back. . . ya know, kind of gonna calm you when shits goin bad.

 

Yeah Jake and Cam would be yelling at eachother on National TV inside the 1st qtr, not a good scenario.

1. Shula Can put all his work in the offense now and not worry about it.

2.Jake is a leader and no doubt would light a fire under Cam when he gets down.Having a guy like Jake who a born again leader would be good for Cam.

Like I said Jake being a leader and keep Cam fired up on the sidelines would be the main reason why I would do this.

1. Ken Dorsey is the QB coach, Shula's not moonlighting.

i think the legend of jake is greater than the reality. great guy. very good player. fun to watch....but nah...not a coach for cam.
