I know it's Saturday and Sunday at the practice fields on Cedar St., but does anyone know the times?  I need some kind of football in my life and would love to see our newest arrivals on the field even if it is walking through the motions.  Any info would be helpful....thanks in advance!

After all the workouts and interviews leading up to draft day, these players can finally return to the field and do what they do best.

"That's the easiest part of everything. All the stress is done, and now I get to do what I've been doing for the past 10 years, since I was little," Klein said. "Football comes naturally. This is a lot easier than being put through the (pre-draft) process."

In addition to the five draft choices, 13 undrafted rookie free agents and dozens of tryout players are set to participate. In total, 62 players will take part in the rookie camp.

"We have some free agents and tryouts that are coming out for the camp and we are excited about that group, because we know we'll pick a few of those guys up and have them be a part of our team as we go forward through the rest of the OTAs and minicamps," head coach Ron Rivera said.

Panthers allowed to participate because they have less than a year of NFL experience include wide receiver Lamont Bryanticon-article-link.gif, cornerback Nick Hixsonicon-article-link.gif, tight end Nelson Rosarioicon-article-link.gif, wide receiver James Shawicon-article-link.gif, tight end Brandon Williamsicon-article-link.gif and guard Justin Wellsicon-article-link.gif.

A list of the tryout players will be available upon the completion of physicals Friday morning.

The camp comes in the midst of Phase Two of offseason workouts, a three-week period that began on April 29 in which coaches can provide individual instruction.

Phase three begins May 20, a four-week period that will culminate with a mandatory veteran minicamp June 11-13. Rookies also are allowed to participate.

Looks like we're bringing in another QB for a tryout as well, though he wasn't on the original list of UDFAs since he tried out with the Redskins first.

After spending last weekend with the Washington Redskins, the record-setting Penn State quarterback (Matt McGloin) from West Scranton High School, said after not hearing about receiving a free-agent contract he will be trying out with the Carolina Panthers at their rookie camp this weekend.

"I knew that it might be a long shot with the Redskins, but we are still waiting to hear," McGloin said. "I feel pretty good about going to Carolina. We have been in touch with them a lot and they seem like they are interested.

McGloin went undrafted and is coming off a senior season where the 6-foot-1, 209-pounder threw for  3,271 yards with 24 touchdowns and only five interceptions for the Nittany Lions.

In his career at Penn State, McGloin finished with 6,390 yards, 46 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

I know the practices are closed to the public but will there be any kind of daily wrap up from a reporter or anything?

There's usually a write up on the observer and Panthers website. I can't remember, but I think in years past some guys watched through the fence and did write ups here.

I watched McGloin all last season while at Penn he's not athletic nor does he have a strong arm but he has "moxie" (don't really know how else to describe it, but how he led that team after the scandal was impressive) and isn't a terrible decision maker either. Being realistic, i don't think he'll ever make an nfl roster but I loved watching him in college, and I'm rooting for him and hope he makes the squad, would be awesome to see him in a panthers uniform!

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
