Would You Trade A 1st Rounder For Victor Cruz?

The kid has posted back-to-back thousand yard receiving seasons, though his second was approximately four hundred and fifty less, but he did get one more TD. So if Cruz continues to be a thousand yard receiver, and continues to be a great target for his QB, then he could be a good pick up even if he does cost a first round pick.

Normally I am not usually in favor of teams trading away their first round pick, but for the right player then it can make sense. Remember that the Seahawks gave up a first for Percy Harvin, and while that kid is a former first round pick, he has never had a thousand yard receiving season, though I guess his returning threat is there. So if someone said to me you can trade your first pick for Victor Cruz or Percy Harvin, I would take Victor Cruz because while Harvin brings an excellent return threat, Cruz is the better receiver and target for Cam.

Now giving up a first for him might be too much considering his contract situation. If we could get him for a second or third plus DeAngelo or Stewart, then I'd say get the deal done. It gets Cam a legit weapon for the foreseeable future. And while we could try to draft a guy next season, I'd probably rather take a proven receiver like Cruz.

the only big problem with that scenario is that in addition to carrying cruz's  new contract, we'd also still be carrying dead cap space from willams or stewart. that just makes cruz all that more expensive.

we can't afford to put that much money into one player anymore. as good as he is, he just isn't worth it. there are other cheaper and just as good options, esp if we are talking trade. and again, adding in a first rounder just makes this all the more unpalletable.

Point being, that tbe Giants know nobodys coming off a first for him. If someone did they'd probably let him go. Great return for nothing. Ill ask the same question as earlier. When was the last time a WR was traded for a 1st?

Last one I can remember is Deion Branch to the Seahawks. That didn't work out too well. Brandon Marshall, who I'd take every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Cruz, was traded for two second rounders to Miami and then two 3rds to Chicago.

Harvin actually was, this year. But the last one before that I think was Roy Williams to the Cowboys. But yeah, Cruz is a good WR. But for 1st round value? No thanks. He wouldn't be our #1 WR when Smittys done. He needs Nicks on the outside, himself. His production faltered without Nicks on the field. I think the Giants would LOVE a first for him!

I probably wouldn't give a 1st for Cruz, but maybe they'd take a 2nd and a RB for Nicks, knowing they probably wouldn't be able to keep Nicks next year if they sign Cruz.

I'd love Nicks to be on this team. But from what's been reported over the last few months. Its likely the Giants make retaining Nicks, a priority over Cruz. And rightfully so.

I hope Hixon is going to be a poor man's Victor Cruz.  We got him for a song and he is hopefully healthy.  Cruz would be worth a 1st and would be a big addition being the guy we had hoped Gettis would be..  The question is whether Cruz will be better than the draft pick we will give up next year to get him in addition to the money it will cost.

Honestly I think Gettleman will roll with what we got and count of his judgement for talent knowing that he has a few years to prove himself as long as things are trending up. He knows the coaches will be grinding each day as if their jobs depend on the number of wins this year.  He is going to get maximum effort and if we have a winning season will make him look great. If we don't, he gets to bring in his own staff and do it his way..... Either way he is fine...............

be nice. . still on the roster. He still gets dice to toss, 55. Its anyone's game still at this point.

Maybe Gettleman knows that Gettis will have a breakout year.......

I am sure bringing in all the other guys is just a coincidence.........

Yeah, that right,  just a coincidence............................

IMO, the reason we are still waiting on a WR is.... wait for it.... cuz Gettelemen doesn't see anything out there, that we can afford, that is an upgrade.

Lafell, contrary to popular belief, is a solid #2. Hixon can play multiple positions. Ginn is going to be given an opportunity to play WR. With Smitty, that is 4WRs. We have 10 guys fighting for those last two spots. Unless you bring in somebody that can push Lafell. You might a well pass. We have passed. We may be set. Some are fine with this for the time being. Others are more inclined to believe we are in dire straights where WR is concerned.
