What is the huddle concensus terribly wrong about this year?

Year in and year out this team struggles on the O-line and is consistently trying to find the right combination of players. The Carolina O-line has been nowhere close to those yesteryears of success from 2003-2005. They came close in 2008, but...

 

I again challenge the Panthers, the team that so much wants to be the Pittsburgh Steelers V2.0, to put together an offensive line and keep them intact for a few seasons. It's no secret the best running teams in the NFL all have O-lines that have played alongside each other for more than a couple seasons. It's no mystery that the best QBs in this league have solid, consistent O-lineman protecting them week-in and week-out.

 

Now the Panthers have a very legitimate combination of 2 stellar running backs and a top-tier QB, but they continue to dick around with the O-line, still trying to find the magic.

Hopefully a vet OT from another team will be a cap casualty and we will be able to sign him. Our OL sucks but having a mobile QB like Cam can often disguise how bad it is. I know people here love Bell but he is garbage.

Again the consensus is our O line is meh ^2 and so for this thread I say OL will surprise us.

No need for anyone to have a meltdown, but unpopular opinion alert incoming:

Cam might still have problems with losing properly next year. We all know it's true, we're just huge homers and are blinded to it at times. Cam is a sore loser, and it affects him in games when things aren't going his way. The second half of last season it seemed like he was finally maturing, but will this continue if we get off to YET ANOTHER slow start this year? Obviously no one knows for sure, but I do know this: Cam is the most critical part of this team. If he can step up both his play and leadership, he can take this team to a new level. If he keeps reverting to a sixth-grader mentality when losing or not playing perfect, this team will never reach its full potential.

tl;dr- We all want to hope Cam has finally grown up, not so sure if he really has. Time will tell. His development into an elite quarterback is what is holding us back from getting to the playoffs and making a run.

Another one I just thought of: don't expect Star and KK to be dominate forces in the first quarter of the season. I expect gradual progression with both of them. Rarely are DT's dominate in their first year in the league (exception: Suh).

I honestly can't blame Cam for the way he acts it has to be incredibly hard on the guy. He won a Championship every year of his football career before coming to Carolina. Now he's in a situation where he's not only losing but there are players on the team ok with that losing mentality.

He'll mature yes, but I think he will always take losing hard that's just who he is and I'd rather him be upset and take it personal than be those guys laughing on the bench when the team is down by 30.

U can still compete and win with a bad secondary if your pass rush and front 7 is top notch. Many people here think the front 7 has a chance at being one of the best in the NFL. Maybe that is a contender for wrong consensus.

If Cam gets seriously injured the panthers will be picking in the top 5 next season

Think one of the things that could surprise us is that we all feel like Rivera couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag...nah...that's still totally true.

All kidding aside I find it hard to fathom that Johnson and Hardy are as effective this year, even if all signs point to the opposite.  It's just the Panther way.

By better, I just mean more consistent/not trying to out think the room and we have a well-oiled machine on offense throughout the season.
