QUIN SNYDER

Elsewhere, the Charlotte Bobcats really like Quin Snyder, who spent last season assisting CSKA Moscow. Snyder was viewed as a favorite last season, and sources say Bobcats GM Rich Cho wanted to hire him over the recently fired Mike Dunlap. ESPN.com

Asked if he had ever spoken with Michael Jordan about a possible reunion in Charlotte, Phil Jackson said, yes, in fact, they had. But it was in that playful Jacksonian way that slams the door on a budding issue before reopening it just a crack. “Last year when he was searching for a coach, we talked about it,” he said. “We talked a little bit about what he was looking for. I had a couple of people I could recommend to him. He said, ‘You’re not interested in this, are you?’ I said, no, I’m not, I can’t do that right now.” New York Times

Man, that's why I don't respect Jackson because he has never proven how great of a coach he is...  Say what you want but, he hasn't ever had to win with a team that wasn't loaded with hall-of-fame talent.  He has never built a team up, he steps in when the talent is already assembled and then manages personalities long enough to win with them.  Color me unimpressed.  Come here and win, and then I'll call you one of the greatest of all time.

I'm really not liking the Quin Snyder news.  Sounds like he's the early favorite, especially if Cho wanted to hire him last year.  I'm wondering who overruled him?  Higgins?  MJ?  Whoever it was, that was a really dumb move.  I'm just gonna trust they will hire the right guy this time and see where they went wrong the last time and correct that this time around.

Forgot to mention, I agree with you Diddy...

It sounds like we really like Snyder, and I'm with you... I don't like Snyder either.

I guess the worse case scenario is that we suck again and just fire Snyder after the season (like we did with Dunlap), and start from scratch when we officially become the Hornets.

Yeah, that's kind of my approach too man.  I hope we get it right, but if we don't, oh well...  We've already seen "what's the worst that can happen?"  I'm just really hoping we hit on this one because the more coaches we go through in such a short amount of time, the less (desirable) candidates are going to want to interview for the position.

And it already seems that the selection pool is extremely shallow as it currently stands.

For some reason I think Hornacek will make a good head coach.

Snyder would be nice, he is a basketball smart guy and a good choice for a rebuilding team.

I was thinking the same thing. That's who I want them too hire. Seems like just yesterday I was Watching him and Malone and Stockton battle in the playoffs.

I really want this to happen but the chances are probably slim. I prefer to have Jazz assistant Jeff Hornacek. I think former players make the best coaches. Their has always been this stigma that players who played that was some what decent make out to be better coaches then the great players. If I was running the show I would go with Jeff Hornacek.
