More Names Being Thrown Around (Hornets Coaching Search Thread)

Snyder was one of the finalist for the job last year and probably would have ended up getting it if not for the extra round of interviews that pushed Dunlap back into the mix.

It's probably end up being down to Shaw (if he want's it and MJ is still willing to offer him) and Snyder.  I hope I'm wrong on this, but I'm kinda expecting Snyder to get the job.

I'm hoping the team hires Alvin Gentry.

They haven't even contacted Shaw, and don't plan to due to the way he trashed our organization last year.

Ok can anyone tell me who the hell Quinn Snyder is? Im assuming the fact I've never heard of him is because he sucks...

  • Quinn Snyder played PG at Duke and was a asst. under Coach K.
  • Very smart guy, graduated w/ double major from duke, received JD from Duke law school, and a MBA from Duke business school. Considered a pick and roll guru and has published articles on the evolution of the pick and roll. Would be a offensive minded coach.
  • First head coaching job was with mizou. Did a very good job, but resigned because a handful of minor NCAA violations.
  • got back into coaching in the d-league w/ austin torros(2007-2010) Won championships with them.
  • Develope coach with 76ers, Asst. coach under Lakers. Went to Moscow w/ other asst. coach that took head job.
  • Suns, 76ers, and Bobcats are giving him extensive looks

He would be a good hire. Was the frontrunner last year until Dunlap cockblocked him for the job.

I wouldn't be totally upset with Synder I suppose. I would definitely love a PnR offense with Kemba running the show. Only problem is that we don't have a great PnR big to pair with Kemba. I'd like to think that Biz can develop into that, and if not then hopefully Noel if we do draft him.

Snyder also had affairs and was rumored he liked to party(with coke). Which is one of the reasons he took a short break from coaching. If the guy held his poo togather he would have been a bigger name than he is now.

I would be happpy with him or gentry

Link above is Steve Nash defending Gentry for being fired. Nash and author make good points. New GM for Suns did a bad job bringing in talent. Also once the new regime came in there was no extension for his contract. Gentry was sort of in limbo. In fact its kinda similiar to what happened here to John Fox.

I think it would be real cool if Gentry ran a offense for Kemba like the Suns did for Nash. Im not a coach so I dont know if that would be easy to translate here or if he would have to tailer more to the guys here.
